According to a study by consulting firm Roland Berger, almost the 90% hospitals have developed a digitization strategy to increase their efficiency and economic performance; and infrastructure is no exception. “We would like to benefit from this challenge, so we're going to expand our business activities of connected products and services in hospitals. Through our smart solutions, we want to contribute to a higher quality of life, safety and protection in hospitals, as well as greater conservation of resources”, says Hartung.

At the Rechts der Isar hospital in Munich, one of the largest in Germany, there is a connected control center that ensures an optimal view of hospital-related security processes. From there, employees can monitor access, intercoms and video cameras installed.

Four multi-screen monitors allow you to keep an eye on the 34 clinics and medical center departments. The system is also used to control important access points for security.
In addition, Connected cameras and monitors record landing of rescue helicopters, directly notify the emergency services of their arrival and inform the necessary personnel in each case.

To enable these new features, Bosch has added Internet capabilities to existing and non-digital surveillance cameras and connects them over a network to create a single system, saving the cost of having to buy more than 70 Cameras, reducing the operational costs of the facility and facilitating the work of employees.

Climatec: partner in the United States

In North America, Bosch's subsidiary, Climatec, is a former partner of the Banner Health system, one of the largest nonprofit health service providers in the United States.
Currently, Bosch plans, develops and integrates solutions for new and rehabilitated hospitals in the 29 this customer's facilities located in seven states.

At fifteen of these Banner facilities, Bosch provides integrated services, connected and single source for building automation, air conditioning, fire detection services, as well as nursing call systems and information and entertainment for patients. The goal is to use economical and safe connected solutions to create comfortable environments and provide medical care to patients.

Bosch is also helping facility management in its day-to-day work with an innovative energy management and monitoring system, allowing the facility to reduce costs by 12%. Staff members can use their smartphones, tablets and laptops to access energy data at any time and react immediately to any irregularities.

Together with other partners, Bosch is dedicated to developing additional IoT services for the hospital sector.

In emergencies, Smart interior solutions help, For example, to quickly locate the necessary medical equipment and transport it to a certain area of the hospital. Indoor positioning works by equipping essential medical equipment or other objects with sensors.

Using sensor technology, they convey their position or condition (like the status of your battery), in real time, through an internal network or a cloud to doctors and nurses. These solutions speed up processes in hospitals and can even save lives, because in an emergency every second counts.
