Implementation has included 23 iClass SE readers, for pedestrian and vehicle access, And 1.500 Seos smart cards. In addition to the installation, as a pilot, Mobile Access, to access the parking lot via mobile ID.

HID in CAG

The American School of Guatemala (CAG) is a bilingual college preparatory institution, non-profit, whose campus occupies an extension of 32.374 square meters in which they are located 27 buildings with classrooms that house 1.500 students and 550 staff members. Founded in 1945, is recognized in Central America as a pioneer in education and technology applications.

The security management team at colegio Americano de Guatemala faced two challenges: an outdated physical access control system and inefficiency for carrying and picking up students. Dropping a student off at the institution took an average of 40 Minutes.

The CAG needed to renew its access control system to monitor the entry and exit of students, campus employees and visitors. The institution's system included handwritten documentation and the registration of fingerprints on reams of paper., which provided little protection and was difficult to scale in response to increased enrollment.

In order to modernize your processes, improve efficiency and provide a safer environment for students, parents and employees in a city with a considerable level of crime, the institution wanted to update its outdated user tracking protocols.

Access management

HID in CAGThe caG security management team worked hand in hand with the integrator SensorlogiQ to install an access management solution using Seos credential technology from HID Global.

"HID Global's technology is highly recognized and the company offers excellent technical support that is also necessary to manage the new access control and security system", says Jorge Raúl Quintana, SensorlogiQ design and development engineer.
The implementation consisted of 23 HID iClass SE readers for pedestrian and vehicle access and 1.500 Seos smart cards for students, parents and employees.

The CAG also launched a pilot test of HID Mobile Access to allow parents and staff to enter the school parking lot with a mobile ID stored on their smartphones.. When a vehicle arrives at the parking lot, the driver can open the gate just by holding his mobile in front of the reader, an important feature since most of the people in charge of the students drive armored vehicles in which they can not lower the windows.

"Vehicle traffic management has been improved by reducing the time it takes for parents to enter the parking lot.. We have managed to improve evacuation and emergency processes for our students and employees. Best of all, we have an automated system to manage the check-in and check-out times of our employees that lets us know where everyone is on our sprawling campus.".

Results

Increased security and efficiency are the main benefits of CAG's new physical access control system. Managers can verify IDs in real time, issue and manage access credentials. Also, school has reduced the time it takes for parents to leave their children, going from 40 To 18 Minutes.

"We have significantly improved vehicle traffic management by reducing the time it takes for parents to get into the parking lot.. We have also managed to improve the evacuation and emergency processes of students and employees. And we have an automated system to manage the entry and exit times of employees, which allows us to know where everyone is on our extensive campus.", explain from the Security Office of the American College of Guatemala.

The CAG has a proper implementation that allows it to expand its access control system as enrollment increases.. Since you implemented the HID solution, the school has increased the enrolments of 1.400 To 1.570 Students, no problems in access management.

In the future, school officials anticipate that they will leverage HID technology for more practical uses within the school to create a more agile and transformative educational experience for students.

"In our strategic growth plan to continue automating and managing our school, the goal is to use HID's Seos smart cards as ID cards for students to book books at the library or pay for the services offered by the institution.", added from the Security Office of the American College of Guatemala. "There is also a proposal to change the entire traditional key system to an economical solution with access cards so that students open approximately. 350 doors a day".
