To the Gitex exhibition 2017 they have attended with equipment that combines IoT applications with Avaya video communication tools, in addition to incorporating surveillance and thermal cameras. In this way, they can share information in real time with other mobile devices, while the control room staff obtains a faster overview of the situation.

Dubai Civil Defence uses drones and Avaya for emergencies

The General Directorate of Dubai Civil Defence (DCD – Dubai Civil Defence), has demonstrated during the celebration of the Gitex Technology Week, which took place between the 8 and the 12 of October at the World Trade Centre of the Emirati city, how it is deploying drones to respond more effectively in emergency situations.

By deploying video solutions from Avaya, the drones can fly over an incident such as a fire or a traffic accident, and provide live images to the control room at the Dubai Civil Defense headquarters. The solution has been implemented by ConnectIT, a partner of Avaya and part of the Libatel group.

The project is a continuation of the agreement between Dubai Civil Defense and Avaya signed last year, becoming the first global customer of the Avaya Equinox unified communications platform, allowing it to integrate different communication channels.

“One of our responsibilities to the public is to remain fully alert while managing our resources effectively and efficiently in emergency situations. Collecting video information in real time more quickly and sharing that information through more channels, we are better prepared to help Dubai achieve its Smart Vision goals”, says Colonel Ali Hassan Al Mutawa, Deputy Director of the Dubai Civil Defence Smart Services Department.
