This Turkish circuit has installed analog cameras that monitor every corner, curve and straight stretch of asphalt. Its images are controlled from a large videowall that has a Datapath VSN1172.

The control room of the Intercity Istanbul Park required a video wall controller that could observe all analog cameras placed around the circuit and process their PTZ functions (bread, tilt and zoom). Datapath was the solution.

Intercity Istanbul Park is a racing circuit, located in the Tuzla district of Istanbul (Turkey), which hosts some of the most relevant international events in motorsport.

The complex of this circuit has 5.338 Km (3,317 Miles) long and covers a surface of more than 2.215 million square meters. Managed by the Turkish company Intercity From 2012, the venue hosts corporate and sporting events.

As is standard in all these spaces in which motorsports are developed, safety on the track is a priority. In addition, the venue wanted to explore ways in which they could make the most of their analog cameras to better monitor and capture incidents on the track..

Datapath worked with turkish AV specialist Egerate Electronics to provide a solution that would meet both current and future requirements.

Monitor cameras

The Intercity Istanbul Park has installed analog cameras that monitor every corner, curve and straight stretch of asphalt.

With all of them feeding the control room, operators can view any section of the track to ensure that protocols are followed and instruct the necessary actions in the event of any incident. This room required a videowall controller that could observe all the analog cameras placed around the circuit and process their PTZ functions. (bread, tilt and zoom).

It was intended that when racing cars entered the field of view of any camera, the operator will display the image and behavior in real time, since PTZ functions have to be controlled at the speed of race cars. Not much time to adjust the camera.

In addition, because the installation is expected to be upgraded to ip in the near future, a system capable of decoding IP was required, flexible and expandable.

Videowall controller

A videowall controller Datapath VSN1172, equipped with capture cards from the same manufacturer, has been the combination chosen for this project given its high performance, possibility of expansion and reliability.

"Datapath's capture card technology and processing power have allowed us to deliver a solution that exceeds customer expectations and provides a safer racing environment.", Says Burak Bakir, Product and Support Manager at Egerate.

Datapath's low-latency video capture cards, combined with your VSN1172 videowall controller, have allowed race control operators to capture signals from analog cameras.

The PCI Express video capture card VisionSD8 is suitable for this function, since a drive can capture up to 8 individual SD inputs. In this case, four of the cards allow to work with up to 32 of these cameras in the system and then show them on the videowall. They can then be combined with other video sources via the capture card VisionSC-HD4+HDMI, to display them in layouts, from the software WallControl10.

This solution also responded to the need for a system capable of decoding IP, flexible and expandable, that allows you to add additional sources such as TV streams, weather reports and any additional monitoring sources.

“We are delighted to support Egerate and Intercity Istanbul Park with their solution, that allows safer careers, along with flexibility for future expansion of monitoring sources”, Says Andy Lee, Senior Manager of International Sales at Datapath.
