MBL Hanwha XNP-6040H volcano erupted

The video surveillance camera Hanwha Wisenet XNP-6040H PTZ is being used by MBL to capture color images, To 2 Mb, volcanic activity and live video streaming.

Hanwha XNP-6040HVideo surveillance cameras can be used for other applications such as the one being used to monitor the activity of an erupting volcano near Reykjavik (Iceland). Specifically, the camera has been deployed Wisenet XNP-6040H PTZ, manufactured by Hanwha Techwin.

This is being used by the media company MBL, to stream live video of the eruption and, despite the conditions exposed, has captured color images of 2 megapixels of volcanic activity.

The camera was installed last February, after the onset of strong seismic activity on the Reykjanes Peninsula. There were several earthquakes of magnitude greater than 5 and thousands of small tremors, with an eruption that occurred on 19 March. The last eruption took place about 800 Years.

The XNP-6040H camera, supplied to MBL by Hafnes ehf, Hanwha Techwin Europe's authorized distributor in Iceland, installed in a weatherproof housing and works with solar panels.

"The intention is for the camera to remain in place for the long term so that, in addition to entertaining the public, can be a valuable resource for geology students and volcanologists", comments Hafli'i Jónsson, Hafnes ehf manager.
