Hanwha at uk logistics centre

For your video surveillance system, the center uses QND-8080R minidome cameras, the Wisenet Wave VMS and a high-capacity RAID storage server Hanwha.

Hanwha Techwin Wisenet WaveZicam And Hanwha Techwin have been in charge of carrying out the installation of the Video surveillance of a major logistics centre in the UNITED Kingdom, as previous projects gave the team confidence in the reliability and ease of use of their systems.

A logistics centre located near the UK's East Midlands airport needed an efficient video surveillance system, that would allow you to monitor your operations, especially an automated part of your warehouse that works 24/7, to fulfill orders.

This center manages customer packages with contracts, including retailers, and is subject to strict service level agreements. That's why, that any downtime in your operations can lead to significant penalties, damage your reputation and impact customer loyalty in a competitive industry.

The automated collection area takes care of approximately 90 packages per minute and it works 24 hours a day, The 7 days of the week, so the cameras and video management system (Vms) they had to be reliable and easy to manage remotely.

The cameras also had to be high definition and very accurate, due to the processing speed in the collection area.

The logistics company turned to Zicam and Hanwha Techwin, as previous projects gave the team confidence in the reliability and ease of use of their systems.

Innovative technology

Hanwha QND-8080RZicam and Hanwha Techwin assembled a separate system for the collection area to provide a complete description of any problems that might occur on site., such as jams on the conveyor belt, equipment failures or packets falling off the tape.

Quick responses are critical with a fast-moving conveyor belt system, so the cameras used, along with Wisenet Wave VMS, allow the engineering team, available the 24 Hours, take quick action. This minimizes downtime and packet buildup and maintains center productivity.

The center uses cameras Wisenet QND-8080R, chosen for their wide field of view and high resolution. The minidomes feature motorized varifocal lenses that allow operators to explore the area and approach parts of the conveyor system that are prone to obstructions..

Zicam and Hanwha Techwin have also installed a high-capacity RAID storage server, ensuring that there is enough bandwidth to support video to 20 Fps.

Working with Wisenet Wave, operators can keep up with system speed and review any failures or incidents frame by frame in great detail, something that has proven invaluable in preventing similar incidents from occurring in the future.

"Operational disruption is not an option for this logistics company., so it was vital that we installed a system that was reliable and provided high quality images., necessary to keep operations running", says Dave Salisbury, CEO of Zicam.

Safety first and foremost

The logistics company was interested in using Hanwha Techwin solutions thanks to the success of previous projects. The company was also obliged not to use any equipment in its warehouses of the companies included in the exclusion list defined by the National Defense Authorization Act. (NDAA), so it was an attractive option as a Korean manufacturer that adheres to cybersecurity by design and complies with the NDAA.

Hanwha Techwin solution features remote support, software and firmware updates performed remotely at the right time. this connection allows configuration to be done remotely.

Based on the success of this project, there are three additional facilities planned for 2023 that replicate this video surveillance system to build on it a perimeter protection solution with artificial intelligence from Hanwha Techwin.
