Hanwha at the Port of Assan

To protect ships, freight containers and their shipyards, The Port of Assan has renewed its video surveillance system with cameras Hanwha Wisenet Q & X PTZ Plus Ranges.

The Port of Assan (Iskenderun – Turkey) It was founded in June 2010 by Assan Liman İşletmeleri, one of the companies of the Kibar Group. It was the first container terminal in the Gulf of Iskenderun and operates with international container shipping companies (General cargo ships, Project Cargo Ships and Bulk Carriers) with an established annual capacity of 250.000 TEU (Twenty-Team Unit). Its objective is to reach a capacity of 400.000 TEU with new investments.

The port is the only container terminal linking northern Iraq with the West, in addition to serving companies in the Eastern Mediterranean, southeastern Anatolia and southern central Anatolia. Like this, The effectiveness of its operations and security are of paramount importance to the region.

This area provides port security in accordance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS).

An innovative solution

The security of the port could not be carried out properly because the CCTV system The installed system was inflexible and did not offer enough detail for operators to fully understand what was happening.

This is why the need to improve safety efficiency and situational awareness was identified, to effectively protect ships, Equipment, Port Shipyards and Containers. The system had to combat a variety of threats that included theft, Vandalism and sabotage, Intrusion and terrorism.

Teknoteam Teknoloji Ürünleri chose Hanwha Techwin for its wide range of products and because it provides a complete solution with SSM and an extended five-year warranty.

The entire system was replaced by Wisenet devices, including more than 177 Cameras Wisenet Q Series and three X PTZ Plus. The team also invested in the NVR XRN-6410DB4 of 64 Channels, which features a dual switching power supply that ensures recording continuity for mission-critical applications. In addition, NVRs can read AI metadata, allowing operators to search for objects and attributes associated with them quickly and accurately.

The Wisenet X PTZ Plus range allows users to capture images, suitable for expert evidence, of activity occurring in large open areas. This makes it ideal for monitoring the large Assan Port Shipyard and being able to capture high-quality images of objects up to a distance of 200 Meters, in any lighting situation.

The range also includes an AI-powered auto-tracking feature that allows control room operators to efficiently monitor the movement of objects while having their hands free to control other cameras. With a right-click, Operators can program a camera to automatically select and track a specific object.

This is achieved through video analytics with Deep Learning who detect and classify people and vehicles. Video analytics are backed by Hanwha Techwin's exclusive AI algorithms.

"Thanks to Hanwha Techwin's technology, the solution that has been installed offers a complete and accurate view of the port of Assan", Explains Adnan Sanli by Teknoteam Teknoloji Ürünleri. "The use of artificial intelligence to automatically track objects and use technology Deep Learning to search and classify objects helps keep this important port safe, and the transports that depend on it work efficiently".

Wisenet Q range

Hanwha Wisenet Q 4 MpThe cameras of the Q range, of those that have been installed 110 Units in the port, have wide dynamic range (Wdr), that works up to 120 Db, to produce clear images of scenes that contain a complex combination of bright and dark areas.

Devices support PoE power (Power over Ethernet ), saving time and reducing installation costs, as it eliminates the need for separate wiring and installation of a power supply at each camera location. This makes it a cost-effective and quick solution to install throughout the port.

There is also the possibility of recording video and data on the camera itself, which has a SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slot, so if there were any interruption in the network, Video evidence would not be lost.

Hanwha Wisenet X PTZ Plus"It was important for the team at the Port of Assan to have a robust video system that would improve situational awareness and response times. Being an international port with a lot of activity, with millions of dollars in stock and equipment, The best security was essential, that was intuitive to use and easy to install", Says Eyup Tetik, Corporate Sales Director at Entpa Elektronik.

With the new Wisenet solution, Safety team members can monitor the shipyard and its assets 24 hours of the day, The 7 days of the week, both on-site and remotely. They can also watch live and tablet-recorded videos, allowing them to continue to monitor the port and investigate events as they move around the site.

The team plans to install Wisenet cameras in three different locations and monitor all video and data streams from a central control room. Port of Assan Leadership Team Looks for Efficient Ways to Increase Cargo Capacity While Maintaining the Same Level of Service, without having to increase the number of staff in a significant way. The efficiency and scalability of the Wisenet system is helping them to meet this goal.
