Vueling biometric recognition

Based on an identification technology, Vueling It has implemented biometrics in security filters and at a set of boarding gates with flights to domestic and international destinations.

Vueling, company belonging to the IAG Group, has deployed voluntary facial recognition at the Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airports, Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Palma de Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza in the first phase, which started last November. In the coming weeks, it will also be incorporated at the airports of Tenerife North and Gran Canaria.

Facial recognition system allows passengers to complete the entire journey, From the security checkpoint to the plane, No need to show documentation or boarding pass. This streamlines the entire process and increases security from the moment the traveler checks in online through the app at check-in or at airport kiosks- And until you catch your flight.

In this first phase, Biometrics will be available at security filters and a set of selected boarding gates with flights to domestic and international destinations.

In addition, Vueling customers must register only once to the biometric system. For subsequent flights, they will only need to activate facial recognition once they have checked in within 'Manage your booking'.

The system has been implemented after passing a pilot test. This collaboration project began two years ago with the airline's passengers on the Barcelona-Malaga route.
