This solution, marketed by ProdexTec, is characterized by incorporating ToF technology (Time of Flight), that makes the time it takes for an infrared beam to return to the unit after being transmitted, be measured accurately.

The brand specialized in perimeter security, Takex, has won the Benchmark Innovation Award 2020 (Site Protection), awarded by the magazine Benchmark Magazine, by its PR-30BE infrared sensor, marketed by ProdexTec in Spain and Portugal.

Sensors based on light reflection have been in place for some time, but they are not used as often as emitter- and receiver-based detection. These may have a problem if the beam is interrupted by an object with a highly reflective surface, because the unit receives reflected infrared light and assumes that the beam has not been interrupted.

The advantages of reflector-based devices are several as they are quick to install, profitable and able to eliminate the need for work. However, the risk of losing activations, it's too problematic for many applications.

Takex's PR-30BE is different because the reflector uses ToF technology (Time of Flight o Tiempo de Vuelo), which makes the time it takes for a signal (in this case an infrared beam) to return to the unit after being transmitted, be measured accurately.

The device 'learns' how long it takes for the lightning to reflect and return under normal conditions. If the signal does not return or if it does so in a different time interval, an alarm is generated.

ToF technology is used in the detection industry, typically on laser-based devices that typically cost significantly more than using infrared beams, but the fact that the same detection technology is used for critical installations, demonstrates its suitability for security applications.

The PR-30BE has a range of 30 Meters. Determines the distance from the site of any beam interruption with a high degree of accuracy, as it measures the level of light reception and timing, ensuring that the real alarms are not lost. This eliminates problems of involuntary reflections caused by brightness or white surfaces.

Because the sensor does not require power at both ends of the link, installation costs remain low. If the links need to cross waterways, roads or runways, this can be achieved with greater cost efficiency. The sensor retains the look and size of a typical dual-beam device.

Environmental monitoring dynamically optimizes performance to accommodate changes in conditions, with a dedicated output that allows a pre-warning to the alarm if necessary. Other features include adjusting response time, horizontal and vertical adjustment, and a redesigned set of reflectors that allows for a minimum operating distance of 0,5 Meters.

To simplify installation, the PR-30BE uses an audible alignment tone, along with a dual-ring viewfinder and monitor output voltage options.

Reflection-based infrared sensors offer a number of benefits. With the use of ToF technology, Takex's PR-30BE also offers higher levels of security to ensure that detection performance is not compromised in any way.
