The security of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 It will have an access system based on facial recognition
This will be the first time in Olympic history that a facial recognition system will be used for athlete accreditation and access., volunteers and staff. Atos has been the company responsible for developing this solution that will incorporate Panasonic equipment and NEC software.
Atos has developed an Advanced Access Control System (AACS) for the Olympic Games Tokio 2020, that incorporates IT solutions and equipment Panasonic and facial recognition software NEC.
As global IT partner of the International Olympic Committee, and integrator of the global solution for this edition of the Summer Olympic Games, Atos will monitor and validate the advanced version of the access control system.
The objective of this solution is to improve security and facilitate access to fences. 300.000 people involved in the Tokyo Olympics 2020, using facial recognition, an identification process that offers reduced admission times compared to the accreditation structure of previous editions.
It is the first time in Olympic history that a facial recognition system will be used for athletes, volunteers and staff.
As DNP and Toppan supplier to the Tokyo Organizing Committee 2020, Atos will use IC chips in access security systems in more than 350 entry points to 43 headquarters, both official and non-competitive competitions, including the International Broadcast Center (IBC), The Main Press Center (MPC) and the Olympic Village.
IC chips will be integrated into athletes' accreditation cards, federations and the entire Olympic family.
The facial image of each accredited person will be validated by the NEC facial recognition system which will store the facial data. At each access point, identity will be confirmed by combining the image of the accreditation card and the data from the facial recognition system.
