With the aim of better responding to future demands for cloud-based services, with full hardware and software connectivity that will improve the daily life of B2B and B2C users, Panasonic acquires this popular cloud management platform applied to security environments.

Panasonic acquires Camera Manager

Panasonic announced on Friday 12 in July in Amsterdam the acquisition of Camera Manager, thus opening a new strategic position for the Japanese multinational in the security area.

As a result of relentless investment in R&D, in which it invests globally the 6,9% in relation to its net sales, Panasonic venía colaborando desde hace años con Camera Manager desarrollando interesantes aplicaciones.

De esta forma, the user will only need to access from any device the live image or the recorded material.

More than 40.000 connected cameras

Camera Manager was born in 2007 in Amsterdam. A year later they developed their first plug solution&play, together with Panasonic. In 2010 more than 10.000 cameras were already connected with their infrastructure and in 2012 there were already more than 40.000. Its management application is currently in fifteen languages and allows monitoring from any device connected via IP.

To give us an idea of the volume of data that Camera Manager handles, it is enough to note that the video data would be equivalent to 8,3 millions of iTunes songs per day.

One of the aspects that stands out in Camera Manager is that it is a 100 percent cloud solution (no software is installed on a device), it is fully open in terms of API and intelligent (it not only manages and collects video but processes it from an intelligent perspective).

Masaki Arizono, managing director Panasonic System Communications Company Europe, has highlighted that “he 72% of Panasonic's business globally already proceeded in 2012 of B2B, starting from a total solutions scheme that includes hardware, software, services and added value for clients. Our goal is to offer more extensive services, efficient and fast for our clients. We have shown that we are willing to offer complete solutions even if they involve third-party products, as long as it means their total satisfaction in each project”.

On the other hand, Arizono has pointed out that “starting from a policy of total connectivity with customers, all Panasonic products are designed and developed with the same technological IP core. Besides, all of them are prepared for the era of cloud and smart connectivity. In this aspect, the purchase of Camera Manager will open doors to new business for our clients”.

After the purchase of Camera Manager, Panasonic's strategy at the European level in the security environment will now be based on three pillars: alarm and fire solutions, IP CCVE and cloud services. In this last aspect, the purchase of Camera Manager will be key.
