This system, developed by everis ADS and domakaba Spain, allows travelers to access the boarding area and the plane itself using only their faces.

Everis Aerospace Companies, Defense and Security (everis ADS) And dormakaba Spain have implemented the first biometric identification system for self-boarding that is put into operation at a Spanish airport.

This is a technological pilot who Aena has launched in the Menorca Airport and that allows passengers to access the boarding area and get on the plane using exclusively their faces, thanks to the incorporation of facial biometric recognition and an initial enlistment process.

This pre-registration takes place at the time the user arrives at the airport and can be done in two ways: at the check-in desk or through a new unattended kiosk, designed specifically for this project.

Aena airport menorca everis ads and dormakabaA key element in this system is the high reliability of the aforementioned enlistment process, including technologies such as document verification by applying three lights (Visible, infrared and ultraviolet), and incorporating facial recognition with life test detection, preventing the use of photographs, videos or masks (System anti-spoofing).

After user registration, information is sent to Aena's biometric identity manager over an encrypted channel.

Subsequently, when the traveler approaches the first security filter that limits access to the boarding area, several images will be taken that will be contrasted with the identity manager. As identification occurs, the doors will open once the validity has been verified and supervising the passage of a single passenger, without the user needing to use an airline card.

Something similar will happen at the gate, where you won't need to submit any documentation. Once the biometric information is checked, the system will automatically retrieve the boarding pass and send it to the door, allowing the passenger to enter the plane.

The companies everis ADS and dormakaba Spain have developed both the hardware and software necessary for the implementation of this new access and self-boarding system, including the conceptualization of the project and the design and adaptation of the necessary tools and technologies.

The work of both companies, together with Air Europa (airline involved in the pilot) and under Aena's global coordination, allows Spain to be placed in a reference position in passenger traffic management, improving security and facilitating the transit of them at airports.
