HID facilitates access control at the International University of Ecuador

La Universidad Internacional del Ecuador (UIDE) ha implantado la solución HID Mobile Access para que la la comunidad educativa pueda utilizar sus dispositivos móviles como credenciales para acceder tanto a las instalaciones, como a salas especiales, laboratorios y servicios.

Las credenciales físicas de la UIDE, aunque funcionales, presentaban oportunidades de optimización en su proceso de emisión, ya que requerían fotografiar a cada estudiante, lo que implicaba un uso significativo de tiempo y recursos. Edgar Baus, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of UIDE, highlights the integration of the solution with the university's active directory. 'HID offers us innovative tools that integrate seamlessly with the university's academic and security processes'.

A future investment

In addition to complying with safety and data protection standards, this technology allows access management that aligns with UIDE's current trends towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

The student response is considered positive, which led to an increase in the number of virtual credentials issued, which initially were 2.000 and were expanded to 5.500 due to the high demand in this first stage of the project carried out on the Quito campus.

With plans for expansion to the campuses in Guayaquil and Loja, UIDE is advancing in the implementation of this solution. “Hemos implementado esta tecnología en nuestro Health Sciences Campus y estamos en proceso de reestructuración completa en la UIDE de Loja,” afirma Nicool Guerrón Moreno, directora de Gestión Universitaria de la UIDE.
