Axis expands its perimeter security proposal with high-coverage intelligent radars
Axis Communications now features two innovative radars designed to cover large areas with unprecedented accuracy: the D2122-VE Radar and D2123-VE Radar models.
for years, the radars have been primarily used to monitor vehicle speed on roads. but the new generation of this technology is no longer limited to detecting vehicles: they can now enhance security in industrial environments and protect stadiums, data centers, and critical infrastructure even in complete darkness, heavy rain, or fog.
The new models D2122-VE Radar y D2123-VE Radar from Axis offer AI-based classification 24×7 and in any weather or lighting condition. Its launch responds to the growing demand for advanced perimeter security solutions in critical infrastructure environments, especially data centers and industrial facilities, as well as venues such as stadiums or large events - from football matches to music festivals- where tens of thousands of people gather.
Guillermo Lopez, Sales Engineer at Axis Communications, comments that “organizations that manage critical infrastructures or large areas cannot afford security systems that fail in darkness or bad weather conditions. Our new radars, combined with radar-video fusion technology, offer an additional layer of reliability that makes a real difference in protecting people and strategic assets”.
El radar Axis D2122-VE ofrece un campo de 180° horizontal detection, recognizes people at distances of up to 140 metros y covers areas of up to 20.000 m². El radar D2123-VE extends that coverage to 270° horizontally y until 30.000 m². Both devices integrate the ARTPEC-9 chip by Axis, which allows processing artificial intelligence directly on the device (edge computing). This local computing power facilitates simultaneous tracking of up to 100 objects (people and vehicles) in real time, without relying on the server's capacity and ensuring an instant response regardless of visibility conditions.

An eye that detects and coordinates
For your part, the radar-video fusion technology creates a data synergy where the positional accuracy of radar is combined with the visual identification capability of the camera. This allows the radar to act as the 'eye' that detects and coordinates, automatically directing a PTZ camera (panorama, tilt and zoom) hacia las coordenadas exactas del objetivo para su verificación visual inmediata.
