Axis Communications Safe Ports Conference

The first edition of the Safe Ports Technology Conference, organized a few days ago by Axis Communications in it Port of Valencia, had the collaboration of State Ports, Valenciaport y Get-Technical Studies Group.

With success in attendance and content, Axis Communications the first edition of the Safe Ports Technology Conference, held last 8 y 9 June at the Port of Valencia, with the attendance of experts from technology companies, engineering firms, consultancies, and service providers.

This edition had the collaboration of State Ports, Valenciaport y Get-Technical Studies Group, with the president of this last company, Manuel Sánchez Gómez-Merelo, as the host of the conference, in which various actions were analyzed, riesgos y retos del sector portuario y operativas de seguridad para gestión y control de mercancías y pasajeros.

La inauguración de las jornadas contó con Mateo Vara, jefe de la división de protección portuaria de Puertos del Estado, y Sebastián Naranjo, jefe de relaciones institucionales con las FCSE y de protección portuaria de la Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia, quienes explicaron cuáles son los principales retos a los que se enfrentan cada día en los puertos y cómo los afrontan.

Centrada en la temática de Seguridad y negocio, en la primera jornada los asistentes pudieron conocer las posibilidades que ofrecen las cámaras panorámicas de Axis, a través del conocimiento de Alberto Alonso, solutions engineer for Southern Europe of this manufacturer.

Most used in installations in the United States, panoramic cameras are gradually being introduced into the European market thanks to their versatility, field of view of 180º and 360º to monitor large areas or perimeters and cost savings due to low maintenance and the installation of fewer devices.

In this first day, the speakers included Álvaro Mocholi, CEO of Grekkom Technologies; Jordi Domingo, CEO of Infinity Neural; Rafael Serrano, commercial director of equipment at Tecosa-Siemens, y Manuel Sánchez, president of GET.

In addition, there was the roundtable Solutions, innovations and new technologies in the port sector, moderated by Guillermo Lopez, sales engineer at Axis, and in which participated Manuel Antonio Carreto, head of port protection at the Port Authority of Ceuta; Jesus Teva, head of protection at the Port of Tarragona; Alejandra Miguélez, business development and technology manager at Prosegur; Sebastián Naranjo, y Meritxell Bassols, program manager for infrastructure protection at Indra.

The topic of operations focused on the second day, which began with the presentation by Ignacio Navarro, operations technician at Tmeic – Órbita, who explained the company's experience in automation and cargo management.

Attendees also had the opportunity to learn about the operations carried out by the National Police to manage passenger traffic at the Strait Crossing, with the contribution of Ramón Fernández, jefe de la Brigada de Seguridad Ciudadana de Algeciras y, previously, jefe del Puesto Fronterizo de Algeciras. La jornada concluyó con la mesa redonda sobre operaciones moderada por Rafael Ibáñez, responsable de cuentas de Axis Communications.
