With the aim of protecting digital identity and business processes through biometric authentication and electronic signature, Telefónica has expanded its offering with the SmartID and SealSign tools.

Telefonica SmartID

Together with its cybersecurity subsidiary ElevenPaths, Telefónica it is committed to creating a secure digital ecosystem that generates trust and allows maintaining control over personal data, preserve digital identity and ensure privacy.

BiometricsFor this, it has incorporated into its identity solutions the so-called strong authentication based on biometrics, a system that combines different variables to ensure that the user is who they say they are, in addition to the electronic signature, which prevents possible identity fraud.

La solución que ofrece Telefónica es compatible con el DNIe 3.0 which allows secure identification and replaces usual passwords with multi-credential systems, which combine at least two factors to prove the user's digital identity. With SmartID companies can implement security solutions based on the new ID card quickly and easily, helping them reduce fraud and identity theft.

The SmartID solution combines technologies such as biometric recognition or NFC/RFID to provide strong authentication: something I am (fingerprint, face and voice recognition), something I have, like my electronic ID or my mobile phone, and, finally something I know, such as the username and password or a PIN. This way, phishing is avoided in the authentication process when accessing an e-commerce website, when logging into a personal or work email, or in airport security checks.

SmartID can also integrate with Latch, the ElevenPaths service that allows to reduce the exposure time of personal data, and therefore, the risk of cyberattacks, in addition to minimizing the risk of fraud in case someone tries to use the user's credentials.

SealSign: electronic document signing

BiometricsSealSign, for his part, is a modular platform for companies for electronic document signing, compatible with digital certificates, sistemas biométricos, OTP systems and long-term storage of signed documents. The service offers a solution based on behavioral biometrics, such as the user's voice or signature.

Biometric recognition, in the field of electronic signature solutions, allows protecting, entre otras cosas, payments made by the user, safeguarding access to sensitive information or signing documents.

SmartID and SealSign will be present at Telefónica's stand at the Mobile World Congress 2015 (MWC15) which will be celebrated from 2 al 5 in March in Barcelona.
