Indra will implement the emergency response center of the European Union

Indra, Spanish multinational information technology company, will launch the future Emergency Response Center (ERC) of the Directorate-General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection of the European Commission, which will have the function of coordinating the deployment of humanitarian aid and civil protection actions of the EU anywhere in the world.

The technology multinational Indra will be responsible for launching the future Emergency Response Center (ERC) of the Directorate-General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (DG-ECHO) of the European Commission. The center will be ready to enter into service by mid- 2013 and will be located in Brussels.

El ERC sustituye y amplia al actual Centro de Información y Monitorización (MIC) como centro operativo y de coordinación de los recursos de los distintos Estados adscritos al denominado Mecanismo de Protección Civil Europeo. Este Mecanismo permite a la UE responder ante desastres naturales, actos de terrorismo y accidentes tecnológicos, radiológicos o medioambientales que tengan lugar en cualquier punto del planeta, coordinando los recursos disponibles de cada Estado asociado. Actualmente forman parte de este Mecanismo 32 Estados (27 Estados miembros de la UE, Liechtenstein, Noruega, Islandia, Croacia y la República de Macedonia).

El nuevo centro dispondrá de los últimos avances en herramientas de coordinación, visualización multi-media y gestión de vídeo y audio. Its implementation will allow establishing a stronger link between civil protection and humanitarian aid actors of the European Commission and the Member States.

This project boosts Indra's position as a benchmark in the implementation of advanced operational coordination centers for public and private security. The company also positions itself as a reference technological partner for the European Institutions.
