Axis Camera Companion, IP video solution for installations of up to 16 cameras

Axis Camera Companion is a simple, easy-to-use IP video solution designed for security systems. 1 until 16 cameras consisting of free client software that operates with Axis network cameras or video encoders with support for recording to SD cards.

The company specialized in the network video market, Axis Communications, Axis Camera Companion has been announced, a simple IP video solution for small installations. This is free client software that operates with Axis network cameras or video encoders with support for recording to SD cards.. This solution has been designed for video systems composed of up to 16 cameras and is indicated for use in commercial establishments, workshops, hotels and other small businesses that require simplicity and future-proof video surveillance with HDTV quality.

Eloina Weijl, Marketing Manager of Axis Communications Iberia, explained that “while network video is replacing analog in large installations, smaller systems still rely heavily on analog cameras and DVRs. Thanks to this new solution, we offer a reliable alternative to a market segment that until now did not have easy access to IP video.. Since Axis Camera Companion can record to SD cards from cameras or encoders, the solution is very simple, robust and economical. Now even the smallest business owners can reap the benefits of IP video, like HDTV picture quality, “remote access and scalability”.

This new solution allows SME owners to use HDTV IP cameras to help them clearly identify a potential intruder, a thief or any other incident. The video can be viewed live and allows you to access the recordings from any computer with network or Internet access. The system supports motion detection in the video and horizontal motion control, vertical and zoom of PTZ cameras. Both video footage and photos can be easily exported and sent to other co-workers or authorities. El sistema también soporta el uso de aplicaciones de terceras empresas para la visualización del vídeo en vivo o grabado desde smartphones y tablets como iPhone, iPad o Android.

No additional cables

Compared to analog video installations, Axis Camera Companion does not require a central recording device such as a DVR, an NVR or a computer. Cameras are powered via PoE, eliminating the need for additional power cords. All images are recorded to a standard SD memory card inside the cameras or encoders and even if the network failed the cameras would continue recording. This architecture reduces costs, simplifies installation and makes the system more robust since there is no single point of failure.

The Axis Camera Companion solution is made up of three parts: Axis Communications IP cameras or encoders with local storage support for SD card recording, a free client software that supports third-party applications for viewing live video or recordings and standard network equipment such as routers, switches, SD cards and/or NAS devices. Existing analog cameras can also be integrated into the system using video encoders.

Most Axis network cameras and video encoders with version 5.40 or higher firmware installed support Axis Camera Companion software, which is now available for free download from the Axis website.
