The University of Deusto reinforces its video surveillance system with LILIN IP cameras

At its 125 aniversario, the University of Deusto has renewed the security systems of its Bilbao campus, replacing analog surveillance cameras with nearly a hundred IP cameras from the manufacturer LILIN.

The Bilbao campus of the University of Deusto is a space of more than 350.000 square meters, made up of the main building, Literary University and the new Library, designed by the architect Rafael Moneo. This large campus needed proper control, which initially had analog surveillance cameras, with problems centralizing information and monitoring the different areas. So, it began the search for a solution that would allow optimizing resources and developing more efficient control of the entire campus. De esta forma se consideró por medio de la compañía integradora i-SAI S.L., la implementación de las cámaras de videovigilancia sobre IP de LILIN, aportando a la necesidad primaria de grandes beneficios del video en red.

Iñigo Urtaran, de i-SAI, has explained: “Tras un largo camino de especificar el proyecto y pruebas técnicas dentro de la Institución con el equipo de Seguridad del campus optamos por implementar la solución de cámaras de video IP de LILIN para la vigilancia del centro, entre las muchas oportunidades logradas en la instalación se puede destacar la amplia flexibilidad e integración de las Cámaras IP de LILIN compatibles con el estándar ONVIF y con otras plataformas de software IP, lo que facilita también la gestión y ampliación de la central de monitoreo de manera sencilla cuando se necesite en un futuro cercano.”

The solution

Después de elegir las soluciones de video IP LILIN para la vigilancia y seguridad del campus fueron implementadas hasta 83 cameras, en la siguiente proporción: 18 del modelo Cámara IR IP66 IPR454XSP, 12 del Domo PTZ IP66 modelo IPS0254P, 40 del mini domo modelo IPD112 y 13 de cámara IR exterior modelo IPR454XSP. Todas estas cámaras IP están conectadas a 11 unidades del Switch Poe+ de 8 canales con máxima potencia de 30W LILIN modelo PMH-POE08130W que facilitó la instalación en todo el campus con el cableado ya existente de redes.

Therefore, costs are reduced by using an existing network data channel and with the improvement of the IP signal, a more precise control of the entire campus can be obtained, making the security guard system more punctual to thus control any potential risk situations, which indicates that work is done with a mindset of prevention and greater care.

The result

The Security Management of the Institutional Center has valued the project as very positive, after using an analog security system for many years, which were very complex to manage, it has moved to using a set of LILIN IP cameras through a more efficient network channel. Which facilitates their administration, monitoring and scalability of all Security teams.
