The Bayer MaterialScience plant in Tarragona adopts IP video surveillance
The German chemical multinational Bayer has implemented an IP video surveillance system at its Tarragona production plant using Axis' professional solution, and has entrusted its implementation to the company IRD Telecom.
Bayer MaterialScience (BMS), manufacturer of high-performance materials and innovative systems, has installed a new video surveillance system at the MDI production plant (methylene diphenyl diisocyanates), one of the raw materials used in polyurethane manufacturing, which it owns in Tarragona. As part of the project to remodel these facilities, the chemical multinational had to modify its perimeter and therefore, it was necessary to review the installed CCTV system, which had become obsolete, did not function correctly, and was completely isolated from the rest.
It was necessary to cover the new requirements, as well as have a current video surveillance system, that is easy to use, with solid functionalities, and integrated into the system. With this purpose, the latest generation IP technology that offers was chosen Axis, and the communications systems integrator company IRD Telecom was used to develop and implement the system in the facilities.
After a rigorous analysis of the needs, it was decided to place several fixed cameras completely covering the perimeter, and two high-performance units with PTZ capacity were set up, to cover the interior area of the plant.
