This Los Angeles healthcare facility has deployed an integrated security solution with the Axis Communications, Advanced analytics and monitoring technology, to proactively ensure patient and staff safety.

Founded in 2013, The Martin Luther King Community Hospital (MLKCH) has laid the foundation for creating a safe environment for its patients, staff and visitors from the beginning and which has evolved since then until recently updating its systems with the technology of Axis Communications.

"We've always had Axis products in the hospital," he explains Mark Reed, MLKCH's Director of Support Services-, company with which we have an excellent relationship. In addition to recent updates to its IP cameras and video management capabilities, MLKCH has worked with Axis to identify other emerging technologies that can help better protect hospital facilities.

By integrating Sound Intelligence analytics with Axis cameras in high-traffic, high-stress environments, The security system can detect threats faster than with video-based IP cameras, allowing hospital staff to address dangerous situations before they escalate.

In addition, those responsible for the hospital are contemplating deploying Facial recognition technology, mainly in controlled access areas, to allow the security system to recognize authorized personnel and alert to potential intruders.

With this vision of Act proactively thanks to the security system, Another of the technologies that they plan to deploy soon is the monitoring of patients in their rooms, after the good result obtained in the common areas of the hospital with the Axis cameras, although still it is being defined whether to install thermal cameras in the rooms of high-risk users to offer a Greater protection without sacrificing your privacy.

“Patient monitoring can probably help in the event of falls," Reed said. We have discussed this and are considering whether any of the cameras could be placed in the rooms of high-risk users and whether they could help us get there before a fall occurs or avoid it.".
