Synology DSM 7

The version 7.1 from DiskStation Manager (Dsm) to manage all NAS devices from the manufacturer, together with the 9.0 of Surveillance Station for video surveillance infrastructures and the 1.3 of Router Manager are the latest news of Synology.

Now available, Dsm 7.1 brings new features and improvements, such as the ability to perform full system-wide backups and shared folder aggregation.

"We estimate that there are more than five million active DSM installations deployed as private clouds., backup servers, of surveillance and other applications, he points out Shamrock Ko, Director of Synology's Product Systems Management Team-. With DSM 7.0 we can focus on improving the user experience during the daily use of the platform".

Storage management

The version 7.1 addresses storage management improvements, so that sharing data between several Synology NAS/SAN, in different locations, it's much easier.

Shared folder aggregation uses SMB DFS to create symbolic links between these in different Synology units. In turn, shows multiple SMB file servers from the manufacturer present on the same network, as if it were a large portal folder.

Complete system protection

Synology DSM 7.1 introduces full system-wide backups. Through technology Active Backup for Business manufacturer's, the ability to mirror and replicate the entire system significantly accelerates recovery time objectives (RTO).

This factor is especially relevant in the event of a total site failure. Full system restore capability also introduces a quick and convenient way to deploy identically configured systems.

Increased performance

The new user interface introduced in DSM 7.0 it has also been further improved through the consolidation of background tasks, with an easy-to-manage overview, in addition to offering greater transparency as to what happens in the system, even in different user accounts.

For clusters of Synology High Availability, users can view and manage drives on both systems from a single instance of the storage manager, thus simplifying the maintenance process and management.

Performance-wise, DSM has long supported the flash caching to increase random I/O performance in a cost-effective manner. This new version saves SSD caching, especially when accelerating multiple storage volumes at the same time.

Active Backup for Business: bandwidth control, expanded monitoring and reporting capabilities, as well as support for DSM backups.

Active Insight: centralized monitoring of Hyper Backup login activity and task statuses, plus the ability to upgrade batch-monitored systems.

Synology C2 Hybrid Share: C2 server snapshots, plus local file versioning provided by Synology Drive for easy restoration.

Directory Server: support for read-only domain controllers to improve the security and flexibility of your deployment.

Synology Drive: extended indexing capabilities, revised mobile user experience and enhanced monitoring/auditing capabilities.

MailPlus: Virtual DSM support, extended management options, import/migration improvements.

Virtual Machine Manager: improvements in storage I/O performance and QoS capabilities.

Synology Surveillance Station 9.0

In addition, Synology has also introduced Surveillance Station 9.0, your solution for the management of video surveillance infrastructures, that offers more ease of use, managing multiple sites, Security, Etc.

A highlight is that it allows you to start the complementary service simultaneously C2 Surveillance, which takes advantage of the new dual recording capability introduced in Surveillance Station 9.0 to keep, safely, important video signals in case of physical damage or theft of the NVR (watch attached video)

Another novelty is Synology Router Manager (Srm) 1.3 and the router RT6600ax, that works with Wi-Fi 6. this update reviews network management, introducing its segmentation and support for various SSIDs and VLANs, to which is added the renewed complementary mobile application DS router 2.0.
