Synology expands its NAS line to offer more performance and scalability to SMEs

Among the new 1U rackmount devices with 4 bays house the RackStation RS818+ and RS818RP+ servers, as well as the RX418 expansion unit.

Synology has introduced the RackStation RS818+ and RS818RP+ servers, and the RX418 expansion unit, 1U rackmount NAS devices with 4 Bays specially designed to offer high transmission performance and scalability to SMEs.

The RS818+ and RS818RP+ feature a 2.4GHz quad-core processor, AES-NI encryption engine, 2 GB of DDR3 memory (ampliable a 16 GB in dual channel) and a PCIe slot 2.0 to insert an optional network card 10 Carry. This hardware provides a reading speed that exceeds 1.099 MB/sq, which makes both devices the ideal centralized storage option for data transmissions to multiple clients.

The storage capacity of RS818+ and RS818RP+ servers can also be expanded thanks to Synology's RX418 expansion unit., which provides up to a total of 8 bays, and facilitates high flexibility in data management and backups. They incorporate four LAN ports 1 GbE that supports Link Aggregation and failover.

Synology High Availability support provides a robust cluster with active and passive servers to keep data and services online. Besides, The RS818RP+ is equipped with redundant power supplies to ensure continuity of service.

Both run with DiskStation Manager, the intuitive operating system for Synology NAS devices, which includes various applications to facilitate file sharing, Data backup and collaboration tools to improve productivity at work. Certified by VMware, Citrix, Microsoft Hyper-V y OpenStack Cinder, can be integrated into corporate virtualization environments.
