Aimen and Gradiant participate in the Seers infrared multispectral vision project
El aspecto diferenciador de esta solución radica en su precio, which according to the entities involved can be up to five times less. This is possible thanks to the combination of sensors based on low-cost components, which will include different ranges of infrared: near (NIR), short-wave (SWIR), mid-wave (MWIR) and long-wave (LWIR).
To be able to cover such a wide spectrum, a compact optics will be built and a processing method will be developed that allows the combination of the images, as well as a video analysis system capable of exploiting the captured multispectral information.
‘It is a system that provides greater visibility without raising costs’, explains Antón García, member of the Robotics and Control Department at Aimen.
The system will be tested on coastal surveillance devices to facilitate security control tasks in ports and the detection of spills, and improve traffic monitoring in tunnels. It will allow measuring air quality and will report on the state of the tunnel, being useful for coordinating rescue tasks in case of an accident.
Aimen will contribute in the field of embedded vision, real-time image processing and the treatment of spectral images, while Gradiant will be key in video analysis applied to the security and smart city sectors. The goal of this last one is to develop intelligent video analysis software that takes advantage of information from the entire infrared spectrum.
Infrared vision systems have been frequently used in the military field and, gradually, these advances have been transferred to optimize video surveillance and security tasks in the civil field, whose market is estimated to reach 57,3 billion euros in 2020.
Seers Components
Led by Aimen, the Seers project consortium includes the participation of the Technological Center of Telecommunications of Galicia Foundation (Gradiant), as well as companies from six countries, notably the French Airbus Defence and Space and the Italian Thales, que se encargarán de demostrar el sistema en videovigilancia costera y tráfico confinado.
