Axis begins its activity in access control with the A1001 system based on open IP
Axis Communications has begun its activity in the European physical access control market with the A1001 system, a networked door controller that integrates web-based software and a complementary door reader, which offers new integration possibilities to its partners and end customers within its range of IP security.
As announced by the Spanish subsidiary of Axis Communications during its recent annual event with its business partners, held in Madrid in mid-October (see the news at Digital Security Magazine), its entry into the European physical access control market features the A1001 system, a networked door controller that integrates web-based software and a complementary door reader, which joins and integrates into the manufacturer's network security offering.
The second solution is aimed at large companies, since the open application programming interface of the Axis A1001 allows the company's application development partners (ADP) to meet specific customer requirements. At the moment, twenty-five partners offer solutions that include functionalities for video integration and advanced access control.
An example of this is the joint work between Axis and Nedap to develop open systems using standards that are already available on the market, as noted by Arjan Bouter, sales director of Nedap Security Management: 'physical security systems are starting to operate similarly to IT systems', in which non-proprietary hardware and open standards have been a logical concept for years. The new Axis A1001 network door controller fits perfectly into this trend. Now you have full access to the powerful Aeos security management software, and these developments are possible because both companies build their solutions under the same philosophy.
Also, Miet Loix, CEO of Entelec Control Systems, also an ADP partner of the Swedish manufacturer, highlights 'Axis's open approach to the current market is precisely what supports our company'.
