The Observatory of Home and Business Security of Verisure 2026 revela un aumento de la percepción de inseguridad y un avance de las soluciones tecnológicas y conectadas.

Security has become an increasingly present concern among Spanish homes and businesses. He 96,1% of citizens declare having some concern related to the protection of their home or establishment, mientras que el 94% considers feeling safe to be quite or very important. These are some of the main data from the Observatorio de la Seguridad de Hogares y Negocios de Verisure 2026, developed based on an IO Investigación survey of 2.001 people and the analysis of more than 26 millions of alarm triggers managed by the Verisure Alarm Receiving Center (CRA) during 2025.

The study outlines an apparently contradictory situation. Aunque el 74,5% of respondents still consider Spain to be a safe country, Six out of ten —60.4%— believe that the country is currently less safe than two years ago. This perception increases up to 62,7% among those who live with children and reaches 66,5% among people of 35 a 44 years.

Los robberies top the list of concerns related to the protection of homes and businesses, with a 71,9% of the responses. Occupation ranks second, with a 57,4%, followed by health emergencies (44,9%) and fires (38%).

One of the most significant changes in the report is the growing weight of online crimes, which are already among the top five concerns of Spaniards, with a 31,7%. The data reflects how the concept of security is expanding from the physical protection of properties towards a scenario in which digital threats also become relevant.

Besides, he 60,8% of the participants state that they themselves or someone in their environment has ever suffered a theft.

Connected security is gaining ground

The evolution of concerns is accompanied by an increase in protection measures. He 86,7% of the respondents have at least one security measure installed in their home or business, in front of 13,3% who do not have any. This last percentage has decreased from the 16,2% recorded the previous year.

Security or armored doors continue to be the most widespread system, but the report identifies a progressive shift towards technological solutions. Among them, the following stand out alarms connected to a Receiving Alarm Center, surveillance cameras and smart locks.

Also appearing more frequently are new tools linked to connected security and deterrence, such as electronic peepholes and presence simulation through home automation lighting. The report especially highlights the growth of smart locks, while alarms connected to an RAC increase their presence by three percentage points compared to the previous study.

El Observatorio también analiza el nivel de intrusión por territorios combinando los datos de saltos de alarma reales atendidos por la CRA de Verisure con información del Balance de Criminalidad del Ministerio del Interior.

La Rioja, Galicia, Navarra, Extremadura y la Comunidad de Madrid encabezan la clasificación de comunidades autónomas con mejores indicadores de seguridad. Galicia repite además por cuarto año consecutivo entre las primeras posiciones.

En cuanto a la evolución interanual, Andalucía, Murcia, La Rioja, Castile and León and Aragon are the communities where the number of intrusions decreases the most.

At the provincial level, Guadalajara, Lugo, León, Ciudad Real and Salamanca occupy the top positions in the ranking of provinces with the lowest level of intrusions. Guadalajara, Málaga, Ourense, Granada and Soria are, for his part, the provinces that register the largest decreases compared to the previous year.

Temporal patterns

The analysis of more than 26 millions of alarm triggers allows identifying specific temporal patterns. In the residencias, the highest concentration of intrusions occurs between 18:00 and the 23:00 hours. The period of greatest incidence is recorded on Saturdays between 19:00 and the 20:00 hours. On the contrary, the time slot between 05:00 and the 10:00 hours is the one with the lowest activity.

En los business, the pattern is different. The highest activity is concentrated during the early morning, entre las 00:00 and the 05:00 hours, cuando los establecimientos permanecen cerrados y sin personal. El pico se alcanza los jueves entre las 03:00 and the 04:00 hours.

El informe señala además que los días festivos presentan un 34% más de probabilidad de intrusión que los días laborables, principalmente por la mayor probabilidad de que las viviendas permanezcan vacías.

La tipología del inmueble también condiciona el riesgo. Según los datos de Verisure, los negocios tienen casi cuatro veces más probabilidad de sufrir robos que las residencias.

Dentro del ámbito empresarial, bares, pubs y restaurantes son los establecimientos con mayor nivel de intrusión, con una probabilidad cercana a tres veces la registrada en oficinas.

En el ámbito residencial, los chalets y villas presentan un riesgo de intrusión casi 2,5 times higher than that of houses and apartments.

Second homes constitute another particularly vulnerable point. The study estimates that they have a 19% higher likelihood of suffering an intrusion than regular homes, a circumstance related to the longer periods during which they remain vacant.

He 72,8% of second home owners express concern about their security and the 49,9% considers that they are currently more exposed than a few years ago. However, the percentage of owners who report having no security measures in these homes has increased from 17% al 20,3%.

Another of the aspects highlighted by the Observatory is the location of the affected properties. Intrusions continue to be concentrated in roads, industrial complexes, farms and other isolated locations, compared to urban areas with higher traffic.

The study identifies a particularly significant increase in the locations, which have come to rank as the second type of road with the most intrusions. According to Verisure, this shift would be related to lower surveillance and presence of people in these environments, as well as easier access to and exit from the place.

From physical protection to smart security

The data from the Verisure Observatory 2026 show a transformation in the security priorities of Spaniards. Although traditional physical measures continue to have significant weight, connectivity, automation and remote response capability are gaining prominence.

The increase in alarms connected to CRA, cameras, smart locks, electronic peepholes and presence simulation systems point towards an evolution from simple deterrence to a protection model based on early detection, event verification and coordinated intervention.

In this context, home and business security ceases to be limited to physically preventing access and comes to incorporate connected technologies capable of providing real-time information and activating response protocols in the event of a possible intrusion.
