ADT warns about the increase in vulnerability of industrial estates during the summer and recommends reinforcing protection through smart video surveillance, video analytics and anti-jamming systems.

Las naves industriales concentran el 36 % of all security incidents recorded in businesses and companies, becoming the type of facility most exposed to intrusions, especialmente durante los meses de verano. This is pointed out by ADT, which warns that the reduction in activity, the lower presence of staff and the accumulation of goods before the vacation period significantly increase the risk of organized thefts.

Según la compañía, the decrease in traffic in industrial estates during the nights, On weekends and during holiday periods, it creates an especially favorable environment for the actions of specialized gangs, who plan their targets in advance and take advantage of the reduced chances of detection and intervention.

The data matches AECOC's figures, which estimates that organized theft causes losses exceeding 1.800 millions of euros annually in the commerce and logistics sectors in Spain, with more than half of these crimes committed by organized groups.

ADT explains that these groups usually carry out prior reconnaissance of the facilities to identify vulnerabilities and, en muchos casos, use frequency jammers to try to block the communications of alarm systems before accessing the facilities.

“Summer brings together all the factors that an organized group looks for to act with advantage: empty facilities, industrial parks with low traffic and merchandise accumulated inside the warehouses”, points out José González Osma, general director of ADT. “It is a predictable pattern and, precisely for that reason, there are concrete measures to reduce the risk if they are adopted before the vacation period”.

In this scenario, the company recommends reviewing protection systems before the summer shutdown and investing in technologies that allow maintaining detection capability even against sabotage attempts.

Among the main measures is the incorporation of alarm systems with redundant communications and anti-jamming technologies, capaces de mantener el enlace con la Central Receptora de Alarmas (CRA) aunque una de las vías de comunicación resulte bloqueada. ADT también subraya las ventajas de soluciones como Crash Signal, diseñadas para generar una alerta incluso si el panel de control ha sido destruido antes de completar el proceso de desactivación del sistema.

The video surveillance inteligente constituye otro de los pilares de la protección industrial. La utilización de cámaras con analítica de vídeo basada en inteligencia artificial permite detectar intrusiones perimetrales, identificar patrones de merodeo y discriminar entre personas, vehículos o animales, reduciendo significativamente las falsas alarmas.

La integración entre los sistemas de alarma y las cámaras de verificación visual facilita además la confirmación inmediata de los incidentes through images sent to the CRA, speeding up verification and subsequent communication with the Security Forces and Corps when the intrusion is real.

The perimeter protection through exterior sensors and specific cameras completes the defense strategy, allowing to detect the presence of intruders before they access the interior of the facility and extending the time available to respond to the incident.

Finally, ADT highlights the importance of the monitoring permanent through operational receiving centers the 24 hours, which allow verifying each received signal, discarding false alarms and coordinating a quick response when an intrusion is confirmed.
