Vivotek at Garneton toll

In the toll Wilson Mofya Chakulya have been installed 8 IB9367‐HT cameras in the lanes, 9 IP9165-LPR-A Kit for night surveillance and 4 CC8160 inside the control building. All managed with Vast software 2 of Vivotek.

The Agency of the National Road Fund (NRFA) has replaced its old video surveillance system with a network of video surveillance cameras Vivotek among which are several equipment to provide an accurate automatic recognition of license plates.

The toll route Wilson Mofya Chakulya runs along T3 in Zambia, connecting the suburbs of Chimwemwe, Mindolo and Mindolo North. It is one of the most important roads in the region.

Popularly known as the Garneton Toll, required an up-to-date surveillance system, that included both the control building and the outdoor areas. Ensuring a smooth transition without disrupting day-to-day operations was a challenge to solve..

Commissioned by the Zambia National Road Fund Agency, Vivotek collaborated with the system integrator, Africa Technology Operations and Maintenance (ATOM), to renovate existing cameras along the Garneton toll road. In addition, these had to be centrally connected and managed. This was done with the software Vivotek Vast 2.

A total of 8 Cameras IB9367‐HT in the lanes. These are outdoor-ready with IP66 weatherproof housings, IP67 and IK10 vandalism-proof, and its built-in IR illuminators are effective up to 30 Meters.

Nine Vivotek cameras have also been used IP9165-LPR-A Kit along the route to provide night surveillance. Certified by numerous LPR software manufacturers, can cover both scene overview and LPC view, while capturing vehicle speeds of up to 90 km/hour.

The anti-glare capability of the Camera and CaMate IR Illuminator with Continuous Vari-Angle Technology (CVA Tech) ensure high accuracy and license plate recognition at night when visibility is poor. In addition, this camera is easy to install and requires little maintenance, minimizing costs and man-hours.

Moreover, four cameras CC8160 are located inside the control building to ensure a good view of the interior. The CMOS sensor 2 Megapixels features a 180° horizontal panoramic view with a built-in microphone, capturing audio data along with visual information.

Equipped with Smart Stream II to optimize bandwidth efficiency, the CC8160 has improved WDR and produces high-resolution images at 30 fps at any time of the day.

With the solution provided by Vivotek, the NRFA was able to replace its old system with a network of highly reliable surveillance cameras that feature accurate automatic license plate recognition..

Using Vast central management software 2, surveillance cameras are consolidated into a seamless IP surveillance system. This software has simplified camera management while providing end-user analytics.
