Integrated video systems to improve security in public spaces
Currently, Safer Runnymede coordinates all connected solutions in a control room, located in the town of Addlestone, where a team of three operators monitors more than five hundred security cameras deployed across multiple districts in the interior of Surrey. Along the public streets of the area, the flexibility of the system also allows monitoring of schools, hospitals and other public institutions throughout the day.
Every year, the team responds to 20.000 incidents provided by the cameras, and the video security system has proven to be an advantage in terms of traffic monitoring and crime prevention, as well as providing evidence and tracking suspects after incidents.
Si bien, achieving this level of integration has been a challenge. Inicialmente, the video security system consisted of hardware from multiple manufacturers, among which was Bosch, which made updates and replacements a time-consuming process, which was connected to a VRM solution (video recording management) from this manufacturer.
Looking for a scalable system built on an integrated software platform, Runnymede officials requested Bosch to design a security camera architecture based entirely on IP.
Besides, the customer has utilized the flexibility of Bosch solutions in a deployable surveillance camera in remote locations. Installed in a custom cabinet provided by Central Security Systems, transmits video data from an Autodome IP camera 4000 via 4G and sends alerts via SMS to the control center when it detects activity, such as illegal waste dumping.
The migration from a fragmented analog system to an integrated IP network, managed through BVMS, has proven to be a future-oriented decision.
