This Finnish ship has been endowed with 29 Bosch high-resolution cameras, that have been installed on the deck and inside. All of them can be controlled remotely and adjusted, both horizontally and vertically.

Icebreaker IB Polaris

Finland depends on foreign trade, so it can't allow ice to block its ports and sea routes., as that would alter their exports and imports. That's why, the country has the second largest icebreaker fleet in the world.

The last of them, named Polaris, was completed just in time for the commemoration of the centenary of Finland's independence. To ensure safety on board, this modern vessel is equipped with 29 Cameras Bosch Hd.

If necessary, it is possible to retrospectively check the camera recordings. In addition, save time, because thanks to them it is not necessary to make routine tours of the different parts of the boat so frequently.

“Bosch MIC IP cameras have been installed in locations such as the mast or platform structures. The exteriors allow us to control the ice and the boats of the clients. We can use those located at the stern to control changes in our distance to the ships we are guiding to or from a port.. The vessel can only be a few meters behind the icebreaker or even tied to the icebreaker if it is being towed.", explains Pasi Järvelin, captain of the Polaris.

Mobile cameras in critical conditions

At the top of the mast, a 360º mobile camera has been installed, which also works smoothly in the dark. All cameras can be controlled remotely and adjusted both horizontally and vertically.

Its focus and zoom functions are indispensable in the icebreaker's harsh working environment. The cameras are equipped with windshield wipers that can be activated from the bridge in adverse rainy weather conditions, wind or snow.
