Lancashire charity protects its premises with GPRS radio solution

La entidad cristiana Vision decidió que el sistema de seguridad vía radio Sucre GPRS de Honeywell era el que mejor se adecuaba a sus necesidades. Su sede, una centenaria capilla, ha sido dotada de un sensor de movimiento vía radio con cámara incorporada y otro infrarrojo pasivo, una sirena de interior y otra exterior, y contactos magnéticos para las puertas. Una solución sencilla que es posible gestionar de forma remota.

Vision es una organización benéfica cristiana que tiene como objetivo promover una cultura juvenil positiva. La organización se estableció en 2002 y su gestión corre a cargo de voluntarios que organizan eventos culturales, cursos de formación y apoyo para niños y jóvenes de la zona.

Su sede está localizada en Woodlea Mission, una antigua capilla de 126 años de antigüedad situada en una calle residencial de Rossendale (Lancashire – Reino Unido). Cuando el ayuntamiento local les cedió este edificio se encontraba en muy mal estado, sin agua, sin calefacción y sin electricidad. Al ser muy antiguo, la capilla tenía una estructura poco tradicional con varias salas pequeñas en distintos niveles a las que se accedía por escaleras en cada extremo.

Tras realizar su renovación y crear un moderno centro social, se planteó la necesidad de dotarle de un sistema de seguridad vía radio que protegiese las instalaciones, el personal y las visitas. Al no disponer de personal permanente precisaban una solución que facilitase la supervisión remota y permitiese que varios usuarios pudieran activar y desactivar el sistema.

“Cuando quisimos implementar una solución de seguridad vía radio, analizamos varios sistemas de distintas empresas. Necesitábamos un sistema que se pudiera administrar remotamente, pero también que fuera fácil de utilizar por cualquier persona”, declaró Nathan Shepherd, director de Vision.

Seguridad con Sucre

Además del panel anti-intrusión, la organización necesitaba una serie de periféricos, like a motion sensor via radio with built-in camera and another passive infrared sensor, una sirena de interior y otra exterior, y contactos magnéticos para las puertas. One of the main advantages of Honeywell's system is being able to have proximity TAGs that we use to arm and disarm the alarm. We have several people who need access to the building, and we were able to give each one their own remote control that allows them to easily operate the intrusion system. This saved us from having to use PIN codes that can be forgotten and are easy to share with other people, in addition to giving us the added advantage of knowing who has entered the building at all times, comments Nathan Shepherd.

The Sucre GPRS system offers users the possibility to self-manage their security system. Using the PIR motion sensor with built-in camera, Vision can monitor the chapel at any time, check whether an alarm is a false alarm or not and respond quickly. The system provides the peace of mind of knowing that the facilities are protected.

Having a limited budget, the organization turned to volunteers with electrical experience for the system installation. The Sucre GPRS system is installed quickly and is easy to program, even by people without technical knowledge. Besides, its discreet design fits small spaces and is suitable for any environment.

The installation of the Sucre GPRS system has already provided the expected results to the Vision charity. When an alarm is triggered during the night, the organization uses the PIR motion sensor with camera to remotely view the facilities and confirm whether it is a false alarm. The system can be reset remotely and completely eliminates the need to go to the premises in person.
