The Iguazú National Park is committed to IP technology to protect its tourist heritage
The Iguazú Argentina company, responsible for the natural circuits and locations of the Iguazú National Park in Argentina, has selected Axis Communications network cameras, managed with Netcamara software, to preserve the tranquility of a tourist destination that is among the seven natural wonders of the world.
Iguazú National Park, located in the Argentine province of Misiones, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984, It is an extensive tourist region (with a surface of 67.720 hectares) which is among the seven natural wonders of the world and receives more than a million visitors annually.
As concessionaire of natural circuits, restaurants, services and other locations within the park, at the company Iguazu Argentina decided a few years ago to implement a network video surveillance system, which has been expanding until now, to create a safe environment for tourists and optimize the service offered to them.
Taking into account the dimensions of the park, its traffic volume and, mainly, electrical problems in this area, Those responsible for the park opted for network video surveillance technology from the Swedish company Axis Communications, with a system composed of 65 cameras of different models from this supplier that integrate the company's management software Netcamara, according to the project installed by the Argentine company Qualitech, Also responsible for the training of park staff.
The installed cameras provide a record of the movement of staff and visitors, both in open spaces and inside the premises, restaurants, offices and other departments. In addition, the images obtained serve as support in case of possible complaints., incidents at access points and any other type of situation that may occur on the route.
As Warley Alves Goes explains, Iguazú Argentina systems assistant, “Axis cameras provide us with everything we need to meet the park's demand. With them we make tourists feel safe and we can respond efficiently to the needs of each sector.. One of the great advantages is that, despite the constant electrical problems in the region, “The system works very well”.
IP devices for different needs
Every year, Iguazú National Park receives thousands of tourists from all over the world who enjoy its different natural attractions, among which the Lower and Upper Circuit stand out, the Jungle Train and the viewing balcony of the imposing Devil's Throat, a set of waterfalls that are the largest in the world.
In this sense, The great challenge for the security system concessionaire was to monitor all pedestrian access areas., parking lots, toilets and other facilities located on site, For which it was decided to install different models of cameras from said supplier., depending on the needs of each sector.
So, For video surveillance of stores and restaurants, the Axis M1104 model was chosen, offering HDTV megapixel resolution at full frame rate and digital pan/tilt and zoom for detailed cropped image, making it easier to detect any incident or anomaly. In the first phase of the project, the P1343-E network camera was installed (bottom image), with day/night vision functionality and anti-vandal design and protection to withstand changes in temperature and humidity on outdoor routes.
As the person in charge of Iguazú Argentina remembers, Five years ago we began to implement the monitoring system and we added cameras and equipment to accompany the growing demand of the park with the aim of creating a safe environment, which are managed with Netcamara's open management software, that allows controlling a large number of devices”.
In this sense, Martin Cross, CEO and founder of Netcamara, underlines the value “of a flexible solution, reliable and innovative that has adapted without problems to the needs of Iguazú Argentina, ensuring continuous support in all monitoring integrations of one of the best-known tourist destinations in South America”.
