The LaSalle Plaza building in Minneapolis renews its video surveillance system with Avigilon

To optimize the obsolete analog security system and move to an IP video surveillance system, LaSalle Plaza has installed 52 HD cameras of 1 MP from Avigilon in the building. An infrastructure that is managed and administered with ACC and HDSM tools.

built in 1991, LaSalle Plaza is an office tower of 30 floors in the heart of the theater district of bustling Minneapolis. A building of 182.880 square meters that covers an entire block and is home to many companies, as well as shops and restaurants. An area with capacity for about 16.000 people per day which poses a great challenge when it comes to security.

En un principio se había optado por instalar un sistema de vigilancia analógico pero este se había quedado obsoleto, era difícil de utiliza y de costoso mantenimiento. Era preciso optar por una solución digital que permitiera capturar imágenes en alta resolución, acelerara los tiempos de respuesta y garantizara una mayor protección a los ocupantes del edificio.

El proveedor de soluciones de seguridad ECSI fue la empresa encargada de renovar el sistema de seguridad de LaSalle Plaza que optó por la solución de alta definición de Avigilon para su puesta en marcha.

“Con la calidad de imagen que ofrece la solución de Avigilon, podemos identificar fácilmente los intrusos, ver como se mueven a través del edificio y llamar a la policía cuando surge un problema. La calidad de imagen es tan buena que sabemos que siempre vamos a ser capaces de identificar claramente un individuo. Con las nuevas herramientas, los agentes de seguridad pueden controlar todo el edificio de forma más eficazmente proporcionando una mayor sensación de seguridad”, explica Kelly Lentz, general manager de LaSalle Plaza (perteneciente a Zeller Realty Group).

En el edificio se han instalado 48 HD cameras of 1 MP que se encargan de supervisar el interior del edificio, incluido el garaje subterráneo, y otras cuatro son responsables del muelle de carga. Una infraestructura que es controlada por los operadores a través del software Avigilon Control Center 5 Enterprise Edition (ACC) and through the High Definition Stream Management tool (HDSM) they can manage it 24×7 and store up to 45 days of continuous surveillance footage on an Avigilon Network Video Recorder (NVR). Security directors can also view the system from their laptops.

Faster identification

The image clarity offered by this Avigilon solution, combined with its ease of use has been key elements in achieving a greater impact on the overall building security. “Previously, it was extremely slow to search, find and identify any type of image. Now, all our operators say that searching the archived footage is a much faster process”, adds Lenz.

Cost savings have been another of the benefits that LaSalle Plaza has achieved with the renovation. “We were beginning to incur costs to repair and replace our DVR-based system. The new Avigilon system is reliable and easy to manage, which reduces maintenance requirements.”
