Honeywell's technology has been the choice of Irish Hospital South West Acute for its CCTV system. A security solution that is made up of more than 300 PTZ dome cameras and vandal-proof fixed domes, 22 HRDP DVR for the most critical areas and the Maxpro matrix for security managers to manage the system and monitor personnel traffic, patients and visits.

Honeywell at South West Acute Hospital

The South West Acute is a modern medical hospital located north of Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, which has an extension of 21,5 hectares and offers a wide range of services including medical emergencies, outpatient and scheduled surgery, intensive care, emergency and maternity service.

The center consists of a main building, another for staff and 11 vehicle parking areas. A wide extension that required a robust video surveillance system, reliable and flexible to safeguard patient safety, visitors and workers. With this objective, it was decided to implement a CCTV solution that was able to meet the complex security requirements and included digital video through cameras., both IP and analog.

The implementation of this project was entrusted to the company Northern Ireland Health Care Group (NIHG), in partnership with FCC Elliott and Interserve FM, that hired the services of the integrator Building Protection Systems (Bps) to carry out the installation of the CCTV system in this complex center composed of multiple buildings and thousands of people to protect.

Honeywell at South West Acute HospitalBPS opted for surveillance and video recording solutions from Honeywell "because of our knowledge of the wide range of products they offer and because we thought it would be the ideal choice for the specifications required by this project", explains Clive Kinnear, BPS Security Systems Manager.

The installed solution consists of more than 300 Cameras, including PTZ domes and fixed vandal-proof domes with real day/night function from Honeywell, as well as 22 HRDP DVRs installed in the center to protect key areas. In addition, the Maxpro matrix from the same manufacturer has been installed to allow security managers to manage the system and monitor personnel traffic, patients and visits that occur both within the hospital and in adjacent areas.

In the emergency area, Honeywell PTZ dome cameras have been installed to achieve detailed surveillance of the area and, in the event of an incident, sharp, quality images can be recovered. It also acts as a preventive measure, so that important incidents can be managed and resolved quickly.
Honeywell HRDP DVRs ensure that all events can be accurately recorded and stored and images can be easily accessed and can be used as evidence if necessary if any eventuality occurs..

Outdoor areas

In the outdoor areas and car parks, a series of help buttons have been installed to offer additional security. Linked to the Maxpro matrix, the activation of these buttons activates the closest PTZ domes that rotate to pre-established positions and offer an immediate visualization of the area to be monitored from different angles. Security personnel can also control cameras manually, allowing appropriate actions to be taken in case of risk situations.

Honeywell AcuixStaff building

The last area is the building dedicated to staff and external workers. An area with high traffic, where people come and go twenty-four hours a day. Honeywell's indoor mini domes were the ideal choice for this area as they adjust to low and variable lighting conditions, ensuring crisp color images in dark or backlit environments such as windows and doors. This ensures reliable security with video evidence that can be used in case of need, regardless of lighting conditions.

The option chosen for this part of the South West Acute hospital center was Honeywell's Acuix IP PTZ domes., that have the functionality to establish private areas and are especially suitable for sensitive areas protecting confidentiality while offering a high level of security.

In combination with Honeywell DVR devices, these cameras use motion detection systems to increase the speed of recording frames per second and capture additional details of a scene, getting the maximum detail at the entrances and exits of the building. This results in an easy-to-control and manage security system that allows the safety of patients and hospital employees to be controlled..
