Firefighters Community of Madrid

The Fire Department of the Community of Madrid has installed the fleet management technology of TomTom Telematics In 93 of their professional vehicles to improve the effectiveness of the operability of the troops in the event of a possible accident.

When an emergency call is received at the Fire Department, respond as quickly as possible and with the right vehicle and equipment for the job is essential. TomTom Telematics fleet management technology allows drivers to be followed on a map to see who is closest and, then, send them information about the task to be performed and receive real-time updates on their evolution.

Those functions, together with the possibility of integrating the TomTom Telematics Webfleet platform and the emergency management software of the Autonomous Community of Madrid (Sitrem) for the shipment of orders have been essential when deciding on the manufacturer.

Tomtom helps the Madrid Fire Department

"The high availability of the Webfleet platform, your possibilities of integration with our own software, and browser functions, that allows us to be in continuous contact with the plant, have been instrumental in deciding on tomTom's solution", comments Javier Sanz Asenjo, Inspector of Technical Means and responsible for the project of the Fire Department of the Community of Madrid.

The solution implemented in the vehicles of the Fire Department consists of the TomTom PRO9150 navigator and the Webfleet management platform. The PRO browser 9150, in addition to offering the best routes according to the time of day and the state of traffic, is in permanent contact with the office, that can locate the exact position of each vehicle and send orders to drivers who are closest to the place where the presence of community firefighters is required.

For its part, Webfleet, a web application available through different devices 24 hours of the day, allows you to display on a map the position of the vehicles (identified with different icons according to their typology) and monitor response times, send text messages with new directions or change the driver's route with the touch of a few keys.
