The new Terminal 3 of Frankfurt incorporates advanced security technology from Rohde & Schwarz

To serve around 19 million passengers a year, the new Terminal 3 Frankfurt Airport installs QPS201 and QPS Walk2000 millimeter wave scanners of Rohde & Schwarz.

Image analysis is almost fully automated, so security personnel only have to check the areas that have actually triggered the alarm. This significantly reduces the time spent on follow-up checks per passenger and increases the throughput rate of each lane, while maintaining the same level of security. Currently there are more than 2000 of these systems in use worldwide.

The new terminal also features two new scanners QPS Walk2000, which allow passengers to pass at a normal pace. The QPS Walk2000 completely eliminates the hassle of having to adopt a fixed posture, as required by traditional scanners.

Not only reduces the average dwell time per passenger, but also guarantees a low false alarm rate thanks to the highest quality data and the most advanced algorithms. For the operator, Fraport, this translates into greater utilization of the capacity of the new security lanes, fewer follow-up inspections and a generally more reliable security process. For passengers, these scanners mean faster and more comfortable security checks before departure.

All scanners have the necessary approvals from the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), the U.S. Transportation Security Administration. UU. (TSA) and other national authorities, which highlights its regulatory compliance and international applicability.
