The Municipal Transport Company (Emt) Tarragona has awarded the supply and installation of video surveillance equipment on municipal buses. The company Digittecnic will be responsible for providing the public transport service with a technology that will increase the safety of passengers and staff of the company.

This contract will enable the entire fleet of video surveillance cameras with real-time image transmission to the EMT control center to be equipped. Four cameras will be installed on each bus, that will report images to a centralized recorder with a storage capacity of between 15 And 30 Days.

The system will also feature a panic button, that can activate the driver and that warns the control room so that the controllers of the control unit can visualize the incident that may be occurring.

“This is one of the most important measures we take, but she hasn't been the only one. In recent months, we've added two new inspectors into the squad, we are constantly reviewing security protocols with the collaboration of the Urban Guard and are working to offer customized formations to the staff on how to manage difficult and problematic situations in the usual development of their work", comments Jordi Fortuny, EMT president.

The new technology also allows to incorporate a user accountant system, who will report on the use of the vehicle at all times and avoid, Like this, capacity problems.

The forecast is that next July 70 buses that make up Tarragona's public transport service fleet integrate the new video surveillance system. Supply has cost 124.320 Euros.
