After laboratory data analysis, the initiative has been implemented on the platform, where regular passenger counts are performed using Big Data techniques to achieve the adequacy of capacity. The next step is accounting through the interior chambers.

FGV installs capacity control system

At the end of August, Railways of the Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) concluded the laboratory data analysis of the capacity control system that allows to establish the limitation of access to those trains of the Metrovalencia network that can exceed the number of passengers previously set at the pass of each station.

This month, testing has begun in the 24 screens that have been installed on the accesses to the platform of the busiest stations on the network, which shows information on overcoming capacity, so that the customer can know if the steps are blocked or not and in what time interval they will be unlocked if this is the case.

As Commented by Arcadi Spain, Conseller of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, this initiative "is part of the actions developed by the public company to ensure the safety of users of our public transport".

Screens have been installed at Columbus stations, Xativa, Angel Guimer, Machado, Benimaclet, Faculties, poplar grove, Avinguda del Cid, Torrent Avinguda, Patraix, Jesus, Plaza España, October Nou, Mislata, Amistat-House of Health, Ayora and Beniferri.

In this way, the Generalitat company can determine the maximum number of people who can climb at each station and limit the passage of travelers through the validation line of that station.

With this system, a prior estimate of the capacity of each and every Metrovalencia train is worked on under current conditions, because the limitation is determined by the occupancy capacity of the trains and not the walks of the stations, where it is recommended to distribute throughout them following the indications indicated on the ground and keep distance with other users.

FGV performs regular traveller counts using Big Data techniques, with a view to establishing the adequacy of capacity, with superior reliability than 80%. The next step is the posting using the chambers inside the units, estimated to be reliable in the 97%.

Once the capacity control work has been completed in the Metrovalencia network, will extend to the TRAM Metropolitan of Alicante and the tram lines in Valencia.
