With more than 166 years of experience in seaports, boats and ferries, City Lines offers transportation services to tourists and citizens living and working in Istanbul. More than 150.000 passengers use their services on a daily basis.

Hanwha and Istanbul FerryWhen making the decision to offer a new ferry service between Istinye and Cubuklu, urban areas surrounding Istanbul, located on different sides of the Bosphorus, City Lines asked the security systems integrator Infomet Technologies to recommend video surveillance cameras that could help them maintain the safety of passengers and ferries. The cameras had to meet maritime environmental requirements and capture high-resolution images day and night.. The option chosen was the technology of Hanwha Techwin.

Hanwha and Istanbul FerryIn addition to keeping an eye on passengers, cameras are used to monitor the movement of the 2.000 vehicles that are transported daily, and are a valuable navigation tool for captains, as they allow them to see blind spots that cannot be seen from the bridge.

"We have worked with this manufacturer on other projects and are confident that they could supply us with cameras that would meet demanding conditions., such as saline water vapors and a high level of vibrations", explains Oguzhan Kahraman, Project Engineer at Infomet Technologies.

Hanwha and Istanbul FerryIn 20 of the ferries have been installed 250 cameras and most are from the Wisenet QNO-7080R model. It is a bullet equipment of 4 Megapixels that have infrared illumination and is equipped with innovative features such as H.265 compression and WiseStream. The latter is a complementary compression technology that dynamically controls encoding, balance sheet quality and compression, according to the movement in the image.

Hanwha and Istanbul FerryCombining WiseStream with H.265 compression improves bandwidth efficiency by up to 75% compared to current H.264 technology.

The QNO-7080R cameras also have a viewing in corridor mode, True Wide Dynamic Range, blur detection and lens distortion correction, to offer optimized images at all times.

With the display in corridor mode it is possible to monitor with high efficiency narrow vertical areas such as corridors, tunnels and passageways. This feature allows cameras to generate images with an aspect ratio of 9:16 X 3:4 to work effectively in high and tight spaces.

"One of the determining factors in the choice of Wisenet cameras is that they do not pose problems in the environments in which we work.. Equally important was the fact that, without compromising on quality, we needed cameras that offered excellent value for money", comments Cuneyt Danaci, City Lines IT Specialist.
