The purchase agreement, worth one billion dollars, including Avigilon’s debt, expands Motorola’s range of mission-critical communication solutions.

The American multinational Motorola Solutions, specializing in public safety communication systems and walkie-talkies, has signed an agreement to acquire Avigilon, a Vancouver-based manufacturer of advanced surveillance solutions (Canada), for one billion dollars in cash, approximately (including Avigilon’s debt), which is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2018.

'Video can play a powerful role in creating safer cities and prosperous businesses,' noted Greg Brown, President and CEO of Motorola Solutions, in a statement. 'It can serve as the eyes and ears'’ highly efficient for monitoring a specific location, and advanced video analytics can proactively alert about a perimeter breach or quickly locate a person who left a suspicious object.

Avigilon control centerIn this sense, Avigilon designs, develops and manufactures advanced surveillance solutions, including video analytics, network video management software and hardware, surveillance cameras and access control solutions.

Their systems are present in numerous commercial and government facilities, including critical infrastructures, airports, banks, public venues, etc. and holds more than 750 international patents.
