The Malaga Metro inaugurates the Lines 1 y 2 with more than four hundred surveillance cameras
The four hundred networked video surveillance cameras of the Malaga Metro, concessionary company of the Junta de Andalucía created in 2004, have been installed in the seventeen stations that make up the layout of the Lines 1 y 2, around 12 Km. of route with twelve underground stations and five on the surface.
To these, twelve more devices are added, dome type, for each of the trains (dos en los frontales, four on the sides and six inside the train itself) which add 168 more network video surveillance systems for the fourteen trains currently in service.
Megapixel resolution
The video surveillance system selected for Metro de Málaga is structured in three types of IP technology cameras with different resolutions: of 2,1 megapixels for public areas and station access points; of 1,3 megapixels for outdoors focusing on the elevators, and of 0,5 megapixels for provider restricted access areas Pelco by Schneider Electric.
Specifically, and according to the data provided by the Malaga metro, Puerta Blanca station will have a total of 27 cameras, of which 18 they will be placed in public areas and at station entrances, six in areas of restricted access to the public and three inside the elevators.
The security system, active 24×7 in the stations and during the Metro's public service hours, was tested before its inauguration to verify the CCTV effectiveness and eliminate 'blind spots', both at the platform and lobby levels, which is monitored from the Central Control Station.
The operation of the system distinguishes between recording and viewing, functions that are performed independently and from different stations. So, each of the stations has a recorder to store images for thirty days if no prior judicial request is received.
All recorders are connected to each other and to the Central Control Station from where the service is managed in real time, so that if any fails, the images continue to be recorded automatically at any of the neighboring stations.
Each station also has an image viewing station, to facilitate the work and flexibility of the Security Forces if any incident occurs, and to access them from any point of the Metro network.
Growing project
La inauguración de las Líneas 1 y 2 del Metro de Málaga, from Teatinos and the Palacio de los Deportes to the El Perchel-María Zambrano interchange, constitute the 81% of the subway route, since the rest is expected to complete its construction in 2017 and will reach the city center, as pointed out by Manuel García Peláez, delegate of Development and Housing in Málaga: 'we have inaugurated the Lines' 1 y 2, but we aspire to more: we want a complete network that attracts more than 20 million passengers per year and helps implement a sustainable mobility model throughout the city'.
