Hitachi Kokusai Electric has created an advanced CCTV system consisting of a set of software and hardware specially designed for crowd control companies and that allows identifying any face among others 36 millions in just a few seconds.

Hitachi Kokusai Electric has developed a new facial recognition system that is faster and more flexible, processing still and moving images. The real-time face recognition developed can identify a person in one second among 36 millions of different faces. Once the subject is recognized, they are displayed in grouped thumbnails, to allow the operator to see all the actions they have been involved in.

El secreto para conseguir la velocidad está en que el sistema de reconocimiento fácil está implementado en el propio proceso de grabación, en lugar de realizarse con el material una vez almacenado. El sistema tiene restricciones de funcionamiento, como que el rostro no esté girado más de 30 grados con respecto a la cámara, tanto vertical como horizontalmente, y el tamaño de la cara no puede ser inferior a 40 píxeles de alto y ancho.
