IFEMA adapts its public address and voice evacuation system to EN regulations 54

Se trata de la mayor instalación de megafonía certificada EN 54 que se realiza en Europa y ofrece una total cobertura del recinto, incluyendo zonas interiores y exteriores.

IFEMA ha adecuado su sistema de megafonía y evacuación por voz a la normativa internacional EN 54, convirtiéndose, según comentan desde la organización, en la mayor instalación de estas características llevada a cabo en Europa recientemente.

Este proyecto ha supuesto aplicar todos los estándares requeridos por esta normativa a la sonorización de un millón de metros cuadrados, para lo que se han empleado 385.640 vatios de sonido distribuidos en sistemas electroacústicos y de amplificación. All these elements are serviced through control equipment certified under the EN standard 54, capable of issuing up to 52 simultaneous and different evacuation messages, and backed by custom management software that allows operation over the entire system of the venue. This is scalable and expandable, which allows adding zones according to IFEMA's future needs.

The main objectives of the project required, on the one hand, complying with the regulations with their technical specifications, which apply to the exhibition center as it is a building whose use involves an occupancy exceeding 500 personas. Y, for another, guarantee the correct operation of the facility through a robust and certified system. All of this to meet the needs of one of the major fair institutions in Europe, with more than four million annual visitors.

As already published in Digital AV Magazine, Ruybesa Global Technologies has been the integrator company awarded the project, which has been carried out using systems of LDA Audio Tech.

With his 40 years of experience Ruybesa has previously installed audiovisual and public address solutions in the fairground while LDA Audio Tech is a pioneer in Spain in the design and manufacture of EN certified solutions 54, present in facilities in more than 50 countries around the world.

With this project, IFEMA continues its process of technological transformation within its philosophy of innovation and its strategic growth and expansion plan.

Within this line of work, the recent achievement of the Aenor Emergency Management certificate is framed, as well as the improvement of security systems, the renewal of the WiFi network, capable of connecting simultaneously up to 65.000 users, or the installation of state-of-the-art 5G technology in its venue.

Redundant data network

The new public address and voice evacuation system is supported by the fully redundant data network existing at IFEMA, which functions as the base communications infrastructure. From there, each of the systems EN 54, tanto en los pabellones como en el resto de emplazamientos, puede funcionar de forma local e independiente.

This way, en el caso de que perdiera la comunicación en la red de datos se podrían emitir mensajes desde cada cuarto de comunicación, ya sea de forma directa a través del micrófono o con audio pregrabado, almacenado en los equipos.

El sistema del control central se basa en servidores redundantes, para que la caída de cualquier equipo no suponga la pérdida de ninguna funcionalidad de la instalación, garantizando así en todo momento la seguridad del recinto en caso de emergencia.

La instalación proporciona una completa cobertura al recinto, incluyendo zonas interiores y exteriores; y permite la emisión simultánea de hasta 52 mensajes de emergencia y evacuación distintos en diferentes áreas. Esta está integrada por más de 5.400 speakers; 221 equipos de amplificación multicanal; 516 cajas acústicas; 1.200 amplifiers of 250, 500 y 1.200 W, para lograr una potencia total de 385.640 vatios; 200 kilómetros de cable resistente al fuego, utilizado para la instalación de altavoces; y sistemas de voz text-to-speech y multilingües.

Los sistemas de megafonía y evacuación por voz de LDA Audio Tech se completan con altavoces JBL, además de productos de otros fabricantes.

Se han llevado a cabo trabajos de canalización, cableado e instalación de altavoces en altura, que incluyen un total de 516 cajas acústicas a más de 12 metros. Para ello se han empleado simultáneamente hasta 6 plataformas elevadoras y 12 máquinas, tres de ellas con posibilidad para instalar hasta a 25 meters high.

La interfaz de usuario del software de control es similar a la que ya tenían, so that it has not meant a major change in the system’s operability. Allows handling the audio volume and control of all areas of the facility, including the deployment of the system in the newly installed areas.

Implemented LDA solutions:

• NEO central control for the management and remote supervision of the distributed public address and voice evacuation equipment.
• NEO Public address and voice evacuation Extension for individual control and amplification of each area.
• This system replaces the previously installed one and complies with the EN standard 54 for all areas: pavilions, cores, North doors, South and complementary, technical huts, machine rooms, parking lots, access-doors K, galerías, Central Avenue and tents.
• Deployment of speaker system and EN infrastructure 54.
• Control automático de volumen de audio en pabellones, carpas, vestíbulos y auditorios de puertas Norte y Sur mediante la instalación de sondas estratégicamente ubicadas.
• Integración de un sistema de inhibición de sonido local en los expositores controlado automáticamente por el sistema de emergencias y evacuación por voz.
• Sistema de notificación en tiempo real de cualquier anomalía en el sistema.
