The chain of construction and household items Sodimac has chosen axis Communications video surveillance systems for the store that has just opened in Uruguay and that supposes its landing in this country.

After the results obtained with the IP cameras in the store located in the city of La Plata (Argentina), the Falabella Group, Chilean firm that owns the Sodimac chain, has returned to bet on Axis technology, both for the interior of the premises and for the perimeter area and parking.

In the store of 12.000 square meters of Uruguay have been installed 92 network cameras. A project that has been carried out by the integrator Exanet, Axis partner, in collaboration with Anixter Uruguay. Milestone technology has been used for image management, complemented by video analytics from Agent Vi software.

The monitoring system allows to control the access and circulation points in the store, as well as protecting the products exhibited to the public. By obtaining high-resolution images and video analytics built into them, managers can proactively respond to any unforeseen event and obtain relevant data to improve different aspects of the business.

Migration to IP video surveillance

Axis Sodimac UruguayThe company Sodimac (Construction Materials Distribution Company) was founded in 1952 in Chile as a cooperative supplier of materials to construction companies. Currently, has more than 130 shops and more than 33 thousand workers in different countries of South America, and is constantly in the process of expansion
In the previous stores, the company had obsolete analog systems, that did not allow adequate monitoring of the facilities or the thousands of people who visit and work daily in them.

The Sodimac branch in Giannattasio, the first in Uruguay, has 160 employees and a large flow of customers. "After the results obtained in the Sodimac branch where we installed an innovative AXIS IP video surveillance system, we decided to continue on that path and implement a similar one in Giannattasio", explains Juan Manuel Riavec, Sodimac's Deputy Manager of Prevention.

The company opted for an advanced monitoring system that would allow to obtain images in high quality and a good preservation of them., what they didn't have in older stores that have analog systems. "IP cameras provide better image quality and are coupled to software that makes it easier for us to access the system remotely from personal devices", comments Juan Manuel.

One hundred percent IP

Axis P3214-VGiannattassio has become the second branch of Sodimac that has a one hundred percent IP system, with cameras that offer images in HD resolution and with Lightfinder technology for displaying color images in the dark. The store has its own monitoring center, that operates the 24 Hours.

The teams are distributed in different strategic points of the premises, including the store, courtyard builder, nursery and parking. This also allows you to have control over the outside area where traffic is very high..

Among the models selected for this project, all with HDTV picture quality, highlights the Axis P3214-V, a vandal-proof model with zoom and remote focus, which eliminates the need to make adjustments to the camera itself, and PTZ P5534, offering 18x zoom.

The P1354-E, with Lightfinder technology, is used in Sodimac to monitor the construction yard, the perimeter and the garden. In addition, the M3004-V vandal-resistant camera has been installed, which is ideal for shops.

This set of cameras allows to obtain images in high quality with an optimal relationship between consumption, bandwidth and storage, for which the support of the Argentine integrator Exanet was indispensable, also responsible for the installation of Sodimac in La Plata, Argentina.
