The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism has presented the new National Institute of Cybersecurity (Incibe), attached to this body and based in León, as part of the national strategy in this environment.

The new National Cybersecurity Institute (Incibe), attached to the Ministry of Industry, Energy & Tourism, picks up the baton from the previous Inteco (National Institute of Communication Technologies), A vanishing denomination, as presented during the eighth edition of the International Meeting on Information Security, 8Enise, which addresses the programme focused on the national cybersecurity strategy of the Government of Spain and in which more than six hundred professionals participate.

The Secretaries of State for Telecommunications and the Information Society, Víctor Calvo- Sotelo; Security, Francisco Martinez; the Admiral Chief of the Defence Staff, Fernando Garcia, and the Secretary of State, Director of the National Intelligence Center, Félix Sanz, presided over the opening ceremony, accompanied by the CEO of Incibe, Miguel Rego.

In his various speeches, all of them agreed that cybersecurity is a matter of the highest national priority and that capabilities such as Incibe, with a specific focus on the subject, ensure the proper development of such a national strategy in this area.

Incibe photo Diario de LeónIncibe is part of the commitment included in the Digital Agenda for Spain to turn the former Inteco into a reference center in cybersecurity, and for this reason it maintains its headquarters and previous structure in León.

For Víctor Calvo-Sotelo, Secretary of State for Telecommunications and IS, the creation of Incibe responds to an "exercise in strategic reflection", the result of which is a change of name and "integral" image, coherent, rigorous and expected with cybersecurity as a leitmotif for the present and the future". Also, stressed that Enise is the framework chosen to officially present this institute as a first contact with public and private partners in the cybersecurity sector.

'The National Cybersecurity Strategy under Review' is the slogan chosen in the eighth edition of Enise, On this occasion, it focuses on the analysis and reflection on the challenges and progress made by this strategy, with special emphasis on public-private cooperation and the opportunities it represents for the development of the cybersecurity industry in Spain.

The results of the collaboration agreement between the Ministries of the Interior and Industry will also be reviewed, Energy and Tourism for Improving the Fight Against Cybercrime and Cyberterrorism, signed in October 2012; the prospects generated by the creation of the Joint Cyber Defense Command (in February 2013), as well as the progress made in the implementation of the Digital Agenda for Spain and its Confidence Plan in the digital sphere.
