Axis Communications' new F-series mini-cameras provide Full HD and WDR resolution for small mounting spaces or require a discrete video surveillance solution.

Axis F Series

With a flexible and modular design, Axis Communications has developed the new F Series, composed of mini-cameras with Full HD and Wide Dynamic Range resolution, especially suitable for installations where mounting space is reduced, such as ATMs; for demanding operations, such as ambulances or police cars, as well as for environments where discretion is an important aspect, such as commercial establishments, banks and hotels.

Axis F Series is based on a two-unit camera concept, where one of them understands the lens and sensor, and the other is the main unit that houses the other electrical components; a structure that the company first introduced in its P12 Series and which has now been improved.

Specifically,, the two-unit camera concept allows you to install a sensor unit and a very small lens in small places and place the main unit anywhere away from the public view.

Made up of units that are marketed separately, the F Series includes the Axis F41 main unit and four sensor units, with different shape and type of lens, offering different viewing angles. This unit houses a processor and network connectors (power supply), in addition to the SD memory card slot and other components, connecting to an Axis F sensor unit, which allows two pre-assembled cable options with distances of 3 And 12 meters to connect it to the main unit.

As Roberto de los Santos explains, sales engineer from Axis Communications, "The F Series provides great flexibility and discretion, in addition to high video performance, even in conditions with high lighting contrasts. Small sensor units give customers the flexibility to install them easily and discreetly, even in very small spaces: can be embedded in walls, Ceilings, over doors, in elevators and even behind sheet metals leaving only the small lens that, in the case of 'pinhole' units, it's just a minimal hole".

Some F-Series sensor units are also prepared to withstand vibrations, shocks or temperature fluctuations, making them optimal for indoor and outdoor use of emergency vehicles. "This modular concept also gives customers the flexibility to purchase the sensor unit needed for the desired application", de los Santos points out.

Axis F Series Main Unit

Axis F41 main unit features

  • Wide Dynamic Range (Wdr) Forensic Capture, that allows to achieve an adequate level of detail of both the bright and darker areas within the same scene. Especially suitable for tickets or inside ATMs, where the subject may appear dark in front of a bright background, or in night situations where the camera must manage low-light environments next to bright vehicle lights, streetlights or storefronts.
  • Video with HDTV 1,080p resolution and up to 50 images per second, to capture moving objects and generate crisp video.
  • Input/output ports for connection to external devices and facilitating alarm management.
  • RS232 port for integrating external data into video.
  • SD memory card slot.
  • Power over Ethernet, as well as option to connect an external power supply.
  • Smart video capabilities, as motion detection in the video; tamper alarm and applications that can be downloaded and embedded in cameras via Axis Camera Application Platform.

Axis F compatible sensor units

  • F1005-E: ip66 protection index, fixed lens and 113o horizontal viewing angle.
  • F1015: with varifocal lens and horizontal viewing angle from 53o to 108o.
  • F1025: with pinhole lens and 89o viewing angle.
  • F1035-E: ip66 protection index, 'fisheye' lens and 194o horizontal viewing angle.
