Improve the operability of the different emergency services to increase coordination and speed of response by concentrating them in the same complex, already known as the 'Madrid pentagon', is the goal of the new City of Safety, Emergencies and Civil Protection of Madrid that has just begun the works in the fairgrounds of the Casa de Campo.

The Madrid City Council has started the works of the future City of Security, Emergencies and Civil Protection, that will concentrate in the pavilions of the fairgrounds of the Casa de Campo, around the Madrid Arena, the different emergency services of the city in order to facilitate their coordination and increase the speed of the response to risk situations.

The works of what is already known as 'the Madrid Pentagon', that began the 28 of July and will have an area of some 14.000 square meters, have been awarded to the temporary union of companies (Ute) formed by Edhinor and Fernández Molina Obras y Servicios, against thirteen bidders who submitted to the tender, for an amount of 10,3 millions of euros, which has meant a drop in the 32,84% of the initial tender budget, which was from 15,3 millions of euros.

City Security MadridThe future City of Security of Madrid, which will be fully operational in 2016, use the buildings of the fairgrounds, such as the well-known pavilions of La Pipa and Pico Pato, among others, that will previously be remodeled and conditioned, as well as the construction of a building, called 'The Cube', which you will add 1.400 square meters to this complex of municipal emergency services.

This project, inspired by a similar complex made in Moscow, will centralize in the same space the General Directorate of Security, the Integral Police Unit and the General Directorate of Emergencies and Civil Protection, which will mean the transfer to the new dependencies of about seven hundred workers and a saving in rents for the municipal coffers of 4.430.000 Euros.

Specifically,, the structure of the 'Pentagono madrileño' is structured like this: the pavilions of the Pipa, of the curatorship and number 29 will house the Municipal Police Headquarters, the Coordination of Security and Emergencies, the Directorate-General for Security, the Judicial Police Sub-Inspectorate, the Traffic Attestation Unit, the internal affairs unit, the disciplinary management unit, the occupational health unit and the institutional relations unit. The General Directorate of Emergencies and Civil Protection will be located in an old office building in Madrid Espacios y Congresos, while Hall XII will concentrate the central units of UCS Security.
