The Estádio Governador Magalhães Pinto of Brazil, popularly known as Mineirão, was inaugurated a few years ago 48 years and since then it has undergone several renovations. The last one took place to host the MATCHES OF THE FIFA World Cup 2014 and the Summer Olympics 2016. The objective was to turn it into a multipurpose enclosure with the capacity to 64.000 seats and equipped with intelligent safety systems and sustainable energy consumption.

The realization of the project was commissioned by Sand Mines, company that manages the stadium, to the integrator Johnson Controls who opted for video surveillance solutions Sony to carry it out.

The main challenge facing Johnson Controls was selecting a high-tech security solution for the stadium., with technology that would have already reached and exceeded the standards in force in large football stadiums abroad. In addition, had to meet FIFA requirements and, as Otávio Góes explains, Chief Technology Officer of Minas Arena, "Costs had to be minimised so as not to go out of budget, as it was a constant concern for everyone".

In a partnership that was approved by the technology committee, Sony was chosen, as it met these criteria, while offering the reliability and versatility the stadium needed. Sony cameras were seamlessly integrated into the stadium's CCTV management infrastructure.

In addition to image quality standards, Sony IP cameras also offer DEPA technology (Distributed Enhanced Processing Architecture) for intelligent image analysis. This offers Minas Arena the ideal recording and monitoring solution to achieve high quality image analysis and detection by activating alarms and processing throughout the stadium and its surroundings..

The chosen solution consists of 275 fixed hd high-resolution cameras and 89 high-speed, high-resolution HD mobile dome cameras with optical and digital zoom. The SNC-DH180 model was chosen for fixed cameras. A vandal-proof device with infrared illuminator, that guarantees sharp images even in the dark, high resolution, Offering 30 frames per second, and an Ethernet power supply (Poe), which allows the camera to be powered using the data transfer cable to simplify the infrastructure.

Those used as mobile cameras were the SNC-ER520 dome, that offer a great image quality in continuous rotation of 360º, a wide field of view, 36x PTZ optical functions and 12x digital zoom. Your power supply is HPoE (high power over Ethernet).

The cameras were installed in strategic locations to allow surveillance of internal areas, stands and critical areas. They are located in areas that include the internal corridors, parking, the access turnstiles and the pitch.

All images generated by the CCTV system are directed to the Mineirão operations control center. These images are managed in real time to help with security. They have ccTV system control and management software, and all images are stored on a server for a fixed period of time.

With this implementation, the stadium has an advanced safety solution that meets the safety requirements established by Johnson Controls and the Minas Arena technology committee.
