Network video manufacturer Axis Communications has the next generation of its system on a chip available for IP video surveillance cameras and video encoders: Artpec-5, that improves the performance and processing of video images to run intelligent video analysis applications.

Axis Artpec-5

Based on a dual-core multiprocessor architecture, Artpec-5 represents the new generation of chips Axis Communications that optimizes memory performance and video image processing on IP video surveillance cameras and encoders, providing greater possibilities for intelligent video and running video analytics applications.

The Artpec-5 chip will be added to the new Axis Q7436 card video encoder for the first time, offering up to six channels and higher performance. This is one of the products that the company is presenting in Sicur 2014, up to the 28 February at IFEMA - Madrid Fair, in his exhibition space in the pavilion 10 (booth D02), as you've reported Digital AV Magazine.

Specifically, Artpec-5 offers H.264 standard video compression support on High Profile (Hip) with high image speed (60 images per second) in full HD resolution (1.080Q), which means doubling the number of images per second, as well as the resolution offered today by conventional HDTV video surveillance solutions.

Axis Q7436With Artpec-5, Axis has developed an optimized processor design that is evident in reducing the power consumption of networked video cameras and video encoders. In addition, this new chip can handle more video streams simultaneously than its predecessors, as it incorporates a faster SD card interface for local storage.

Thanks to its dual-core multiprocessor architecture, a larger cache and improved memory performance, Artpec-5 offers more processing and execution capability for intelligent video and video analytics applications. By incorporating Axis' Camera Application Platform (Acap), end users can easily select and download apps to embed in their cameras, such as recognition, people count, detection and/or tracking of objects and people, Etc.
