The Marmaray Project is responsible for the construction of an underwater tunnel that will link Istanbul with Europe. Exeleria will be in charge of designing and carrying out the maintenance of the evacuation public address systems.

Exeleria, the subsidiary of the Everis Group oriented to environmental and acoustic engineering, has been awarded the design, Audit, certification and maintenance of the evacuation public address systems of the Marmaray project, the tunnel that will link, by train, to Istanbul with the European continent.

The Marmaray project dates back a year 2004 and aims to connect railway lines between the European and Asian part of Istanbul (Turkey) through an underwater tunnel under the Bosphorus Strait, that will allow the transit of high-speed trains, commuter and goods between both continents.

The submarine corridor has a length of 76 Kilometers, 12 of which have been drilled under the city and 1,5 have been built under the sea. In addition, have been renovated and built 36 Stations, constructed 130 Structures, two operation and control centers, Garages, workshops and electromechanical systems.

Marmaray ProjectExeleria has carried out the implementation of public address systems in the BC1 section, composed of the stations of Kalicesme, Yenikapi, Sirekeci, Uskudar and Ayrikcesme, and plans to install the 46 remaining seasons until the year 2015.

According to Turkish government figures, the use of urban rail transport in Istanbul will increase by up to a 27,7%. The total cost of the project amounts to 4.000 million euros and is financed by a consortium composed of the Bank of Japan for International Cooperation, the European Investment Bank and the Council of the Development Bank of Europe.
